So I sold my 6S plus plus a week and a bit ago. Since then I have been using a 5c and using that phone made me realise just how much of the world revolves around larger, plus sized phones.

For example, I have a 2007 BMW. My 6S plus did not fit anywhere in the cockpit. The 5C however, fits perfectly in the little tray next to gear lever.

The 5c does not fall out of any of my trouser or jacket pockets. I do notice however that my most recent clothing purchases have much much bigger pockets to accommodate a bigger phone. If I tried to put my 6S plus in any of my older clothing, it would often fall out.

My desk has a little extra drawer in it for a phone. The 5C fits perfectLy in it. The plus doesn’t fit at all.

Also my fingers stretch way further than they used to. The 5 used to be the full extent of my thumb stretch. Now I can stretch my thumb half the distance again. So even my body has adapted to a bigger phone!

    great post.
    very interesting observations.
using the 6s and 5c to show these changes is brilliant.
in particular, these 2 phones actually changed a lot of things for me in my own life, not so much in terms of dimensional size, but in terms of could be accomplished using operating systems that each of these came out with at the time, providing increased mobility.
i would love for apple to make a fully top of the line compact phone again. but i think that we will need to wait for models that have some kind of display size changing factor, using something like the rumored foldable screen technology.

Not true. According to Apple, people's hands have evolved in the last few years. Hence, iPad-sized phones make sense. Remember, bigger is always better. Especially in the US. Why eat a hamburger when you can eat two.

You’re right. My acceptance of large phones is starting to grow because pockets are getting bigger.
