1st the positive, then 1 negative at the bottom.

I went to Best Buy to see the iPhone X and had a chance to use it for a good while.

The size is good, the screen is good*, the form factor is good, it's fast, and looks beautiful.

The notch for me isn't an issue in person. I didn't even notice it bc I was too focused on the content that I was looking at such as News, and so forth.

The lack of home button is a positive for me. Gestures is in fact EASIER for me.

*The only negative is that when True Tone was on it seemed like the top half of the screen was more orange, or more darker than the bottom. My iPhone 8 has a similar problem.

You forgot adding "the price is good" *cough* and "value for money is good" *cough*.
It really whips the Llamas ass!

How was the call quality of this phone to make it the best ever?

I've been waiting for Apple to redesign these antiquated (boring) looking iPhones. I must say, the X is very nice looking and a nice change. I wish the rumored 2018 X Plus was released at the same time. I'm still moving forward with the Sim-Free X version, but if the X Plus was available, I would get that.

I personally felt that the iPhone 6 through to 8 were iterative. Essentially faster performnace, better camera, and the introduction of new features that were nice to have but weren’t great reasons to upgrade (3D touch, Hey Siri, wireless charging etc).

In most cases, I’ve often felt that Android flagships were far more compelling over the corresponding year’s iPhone (I use a galaxy S8 in conjunction with an iPhone).

Then comes the iPhone X which feels like a huge step forward. I probably shouldn’t say this (you know, to avoid Android vs iOS arguments) but I really feel like it completely overshadows my Galaxy S8 (which is essentially similar to the just-released Note 8).

Face ID was so fluid that I don’t miss Touch ID at all! Swapping between Apps is now really really fast with the gesture based controls (amazing UI here!). Swapping between apps on the Galaxy S8 or a previous gen iPhone now feels so tedious in comparison.

The issues I have with the iPhone X are the lack of split-view multitasking and the inability to have widgets on your main screen. Perhaps stylus support would be nice too. I like Samsung’s DEX too, but that’s the nerd in me talking. Also, I still think the Galaxy S8 looks (physically) nicer.

Other than those, I really think the iPhone X really leap-frogged Android here. The Pixel 2XL and the Note 8 are starting to look archaic now. Not trying to bash Android here, and in fact, I’d be very excited to see what Samsung would come up with next year with the S9 (or whatever they call it, S10?). Samsung usually does a good job offering something that would excite me over a current gen’s iPhone.

I think that if we are stuck with this design for the next 4 years like we have been with the 6-8, I would be totally ok with that. This phone is very nicely designed.

For the record... call quality is great!

I checked it out myself at Best Buy on both silver models that was on display. I like it and perfect replacement to both my S7 edge and Pixel that I sold because of it. But best ever..?

The iPhone 10 out of 10 in 10 months. ;)

quick question: can you unlock via face id while the iphone is upside down or "landscape" position ?

Yes, well they have been out, umm, err, a few weeks now.

I should correct myself. I meant to say “feel”. Looks wise, I still think the Galaxy S8 / Note 8 looks physically better than the iPhone X’s notch.

I agreed, I love it so much rather put it on Craigslist trying to make couple hundred buck profit I kept it instead.

All the iPhone X did was make the 4.7" models irrelevant for good.

iPhone 7 & 8 -
Same ppi as iPhone 4
One less gig of RAM
No Telephoto
Worst battery life among the flagship group while having smallest display/lowest resolution/ppi between Plus and X
Worse battery than the SE!
Still only has a 1800-1900 mAh battery trying to power 750p!

The iPhone 7 and 8 owners having a $700 HD smartphone were the ones who got jipped. This is why I got the 5" Pixel over XL. Google didn't compromise it as much. Same battery life, camera, and amount of RAM. Had 1080p.

All the X did was kill the 4.7" iPhones models. Absolutely ZERO advantages over the Plus models and X being similar sized while retaining all the Plus features is the final nail in their coffin.

I love this phone. I don’t even know if I would want a Plus sized version of it. This form factor is awesome. I’d have to see how a Plus version of this phone would look...the screen feels larger than the 7+/8+ for sure. It’s a perfect size IMO

they should just get rid of the plus and start making 1 iphone again going forward lol. it's perfect. form, size, feel, gestures, everything is just awesome. i've owned every iphone but this one feels best

Agreed, big phones are so 5 years ago, also apple can revive the iPad market if they stick with one size non-plus phones.

So Apple's latest 4.7 offering, the iPhone 8 ( a month old or so), is now irrelevant from their own doing? I guess time will tell if the $300 dollar difference is irrelevant.
