This is just a thought I had - if Apple hadn't broken their iPhone naming pattern we would have seen the iPhone 7s (2018), 8 (2019), 8s (2020), 9 (2021), and 9s (2022) before the iPhone X. We should have been introduced to iPhone X in 2023.
 
They ruined the naming scheme by iPhone 3G. Should have called it iPhone 2. Then 3Gs should be 3. Then 4s should be 5.

Only iPhone 4 was named properly with number for the time it was released. Apple can reset and call next year's iPhone XI.

X as in ten years ago. XI as in eleven years since 2007. Nomore s models.

I think the reason why Apple introduced the X is to commemorate the X as their 10th. Anniversary phone, even though it wasn't introduced that way.
