Anybody here using Maestro 2? I own an original Duet (all silver) and love it. I think I read somewhere in this thread that Apogee intends to make Maestro 2 compatible with my Duet, so I'm wondering what's new.

It's a shame the top of the new Duet is plastic. I'll keep an eye on how that pans out for those who own one. One of the things I love about the original Duet is that it's built like a metal monster.

Have any Duet 2 owners reported any audio glitches since the switch to USB? I know this may be silly, but since I've already got four external hard drives on my USB chain, I wonder at what point there's just too much going on for everything to run smoothly. The last thing I want to hear is any skipping/buffering of audio due to a highly active USB chain. But then again, for all I know, USB could handle a hundred times the amount of activity I throw at it...?

Since Apple is moving away from Firewire, I assume I'll eventually have to either upgrade to the next Duet or see how a thunderbolt to firewire 400 adapter works out.

Not sure why the hell they would goto plastic, since the case of the all metal duet also acts as a heatsink.

To save money of course! Plastic is cheaper. Shame apogee make cheaper parts and sell it for more than the duet 1 which is built like a tank. Much prefer the look/feel of my d1 to d2

What latency improvements do u guys see compared to the Duet 1 with the same audio settings etc...?

I've been using the DUET2 for awhile now and I think it's really average, infact I really think this product has damaged Apogees image with us, it's somewhat of a stinker.
Typical - the original was a hit, so they revamp it use cheaper parts and charge more, gotta love shareholders.
I'm going to sell it, used obviously in not a great state no fault of my own it's been handled and naturally scratches. I might hang onto my ONE, I doubt I'll buy another Apogee product for awhile.

Apogee better call damage control because this will surely have a knock on effect with their brand - the sub par sound and the cost cutting by Apogee i.e. silver spray paint, plastic and shoddy workmanship with the "cutting" of the aluminium of the DUET2 and the dust that accumulates inside the OLED display can't be forgiven, I think Apogee really **** over their loyal fans and the bummer is we sold the AWESOME duet to pave way for this upgrade purchase.

Plenty of competition now that Apogee didn't used to have, this DUET2 should have been perfect at such a crucial time, oh well I'm going looking for the next Apogee DUET, any recommendations?

You obviously use your soundcards more with your eyes than with your ears. Professionals have a different opinion than yours, I wonder why...

And You're a professional ? Or because you've spent 500 you have to convince yourself it sounds perfect, it ain't and you know it, What does that word professional mean now anyway, i can work out of a studio or my bedroom the reslt is prefessional, we all have professional tools, that's the great thing now, that word means jack, but you no what I can't "big up" something just because I'm stuck with it, we should all criticize if we're not happy it means things get addressed and get better, corners were cut here, but you big up it because I'm sure everything you own is perfect in a professional kind of way, except maybe your sound.

If you can't realize the sound upgrade from duet 1 to the duet 2 then you should indeed sell it and get something else, perhaps the original duet.

I seem to have also naively assumed I was speaking with an adult. I apologize for the noise.

There are many sound cards that do 96Khz, ranging from 20$us to thousands. Some of those can be used within a professional realm, others, well, not really. As I said, you should use your ears, record different instruments, use monitors and headphones to properly compare any sound card. I used the original duet for many years before I got the usb duet.

Have a nice life too.

I love my Duet 2. I love it so much I may get another. Here a pic of my headphones station while browsing the inter web.
