In general, we don't allow links to ipsw files, links to pages where you click to download ipsw files, or naming of sites where that's clearly the only intended purpose.Sorry I dont mean to be ignorant but what if its not a torrent..?
We have been linking to hard to find semi public ispw's for devs to prep/use the next jailbreak.
Thanks

Please do not post links to Jailbreak torrents. Thanks.
I'm certain I have no idea what you're talking about. But this thread might be of interest to you.Nice QR code for this time of the year.![]()
The first tweets have finally appeared on that tester page:
http://twitter.com/#!/redsn0w_testers
The most important being:
"We killed geo's wikiBut a lot of you do have it installed, so later today (after sleep!) we'll release first beta that relies on that."
The team's blog sure makes you appreciate forums like this. Their blog has over 600 posts on this beta program which hasn't even been released yet. A quick scan of the front page consists of the following posts: where's the download link?, do I need the 42b3 firmware?, do I need the shsh for 42b3? I don't know who started the trend there of posting phone specs or mac specs, but it has caught on like wildfire. I guess they feel the need to demonstrate they have newer hardware for acceptance into the program. Crazy.
I'd guess 99% of the posters there didn't bother to read the couple sentences posted by the team, especially the last sentence which says to go to twitter for info and post only for feedback on the program. Makes me wonder how these people cloth and feed themselves on a daily basis.
I love the dev team too, I just think 99% of the posters on their blog have no business owning a computer or a smartphone.
The majority of jailbreakers (and I'm talking 90%+) are the ones who do it to pirate apps and get free stuff. That mentality flows within those kind of users, so it's not surprising. I'd also wager than most are in their teens. Adults don't really care about jailbreaking as much as the younger kids do.

BiteSMS, MyWi Tethering
have a question for guys who have upgraded to 4.2b3 via the jailbreadk process, did it update your baseband too? reason is I have a iphone 4 with baseband at 1.59 and unlocked, i dont want to loose my unlock or wait until they release an unlock.. i dont care much about the untethered part(i reboot my iphone only when i unlock or when i install new firmware) but i do really care for my unlock..
can anyone who did it confirm that the baseband is not updated pls....![]()
We also request that any volunteers *NOT* need the ultrasn0w unlock (in case things go very wrong).
trust me, i am never the anxious guy who updates first and repents later, but after using an iphone for sooo long, this is the first software version that has pissed me off more than anything else, am on 4.1 with 1.59 and i have had more problems/hangups/freezes than any of my previous iphones/os version combined, just want to get of 4.1 as soon as possible.... but i guess i will have to wait another week...
To be honest with you, I think i would be inclined to agree with you when it comes to people that own an iPod Touch. There are numerous reasons as to why an iPhone owner would want to jailbreak a phone because they all depend on a cellular network of some sort: BiteSMS, MyWi Tethering, My3G, iBlacklist, Baseband Unlocking, etc. Without a cellular network, the only other legitimate "useful" app to me would probably be MxTube and maybe SBSettings.
Aside from skinning, I dont know why anyone with an iPod Touch would want to jailbreak their phone. Unless of course they were going to do so "4 teh free appz"....
My-Wi tethering isn't a legit use for jailbreaking. You're using something that burdens their network and circumventing their paid-service, which is completely less than ethical, if not illegal.
