This is probably the greatest game I have ever played...

A big thank you to Naughty Dog for this experience, which is AUTHENTIC, TRUE to itself, UNCOMPRMISING, BRUTAL and yet... BEAUTIFUL.

Amazing. A masterpiece in my opinion.

What does everyone think of the ending?

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I've heard by a lot of people online that it sets up a sequel. But I don't think so.

I find the ending to be pretty definitive. Joel selfishly chooses to not lose another 'daughter' over the possibility of saving mankind. With no vaccine the remaining humans truly are 'The Last of Us'

The most heart breaking bit of the ending is when Joel lies to Ellie, and it is hinted that Ellie knows he's lying but chooses to stick with him anyway.

Do they make it to a new home?
Do they get killed around the next corner?
Does Ellie find the truth and turn on Joel?

I think to answer any of those questions with a sequel would diminish the effect of this game. It's such a phenomenal piece of work.

How did everyone else find the ending?

Spoilers alert for me as well. My reply in white.

I like how the ending actually open up so much discussion, personally, I think Joel wasn't that selfish. There's definitely a certain sense of not losing another daughter, but when Marlene denied Joel access to even talk to Ellie, in my mind, she is hiding something. Add on to the fact that in Salt lake city, Ellie was talking about what to do with Joel after the whole ordeal is over. She certainly wasn't expecting to die. Ellie might have chosen to give up her life (maybe due to survivor guilt), but she wasn't given a choice at all by Marlene. That to me was a very wrong thing to do.

I think the lie is pretty open to interpretation, I would like to think that Joel is trying to protect Ellie, after journeying thousands of miles just to know that the Firefly is going to end her even without her consent. Ellie obviously know Joel is lying, but I think she trusted him to understand that whatever he's lying about is for the better.

Though all these could be just me desperately wanting to believe that they will be happy together.

ND actually mentioned that they are probably not going to touch on Joel and Ellie story again, a sequel might be possible but with a different cast in the same universe. I like that, Joel and Ellie story is perfect as it is, there's no need to go back to them again.

I agree

You have to ask is humanity worth saving ?. The only compassion and hope is between Joel & Ellie, and lets face it when the human race has resorted to cannibalism, rape, torture, murder, and so much hatred of everyone and everything then preserving the only good thing in these two people's lives (their bond and friendship) is the only right thing, and in the end despite nobler inflections, even Elie knows it too.....

The last of us! There is a moment when in the end In the hospital where they say 'things happen for a reason' and perhaps being the 'last of us' is for the better given the brutality as 'creatures' we had become and that's not even the infected.....

I walked around for almost 2 hours yesterday and couldnt find a store that wasn't sold out. If I wasn't out of town for the last two weeks I would of ordered it. Well either way its newegg time.

I thought the game was brilliant, I didn't want it to end.

Kinda spoiler:

If I was in Joel shoes I would of done the same. I felt the connection in such a cold world they grew for each other...such a shame so many had to die.

Bless

Absolutely incredible.
Only just finished it, been very busy these past 3 weeks, but seriously, I am going around telling everyone who owns a PS3 to go get TLOS. My favourite game this generation.

I worry that many will think it is just another Zombie game, it is not! Go buy it.

Spoilers;
Exactly, there is also the possibility that whatever they found in Ellie's brain would not have produced a cure. Overall, I was happy with the ending, I loved Joel and Ellie's relationship and was glad to see them end together. Especially because I was certain that one of them would die.

Even though I loved both characters, I don't want to see their story expanded, they gave us just the right amount for us all to fall in love.

^^ agreed 100% ^^

Just finished Remember Me. Another fantastic story and a genuinely brilliant twist ending - combat is patchy, platforming is so so, but story is really great.

That's the two last games I have finished now and feel spoilt :)

I got it, finished it yesterday and frankly, I am rather disappointed by it.

Sure, the game has very high production values, amazing graphics, sound, great voice acting and the characters are well done. Joel and Ellie are great characters and the cutscenes is where the game shines.

But the gameplay, what games are actually about, was a huge let down.

First, the game is insanely linear, so linear indeed that I was left with no motivation to go through the game again.

SPOILERS:
All the time during the game you are walking on a straight path, there is no freedom whatsoever to explore anything. Sure, you can wander into a couple of houses in some areas (that have their stairs blocked) but that's it. You also are never given any option during the game or a say on how things turn out. You are basically being carried along during the entire game with no choice or say so on anything.

Second, the game also felt very limited and repetitive, with the same ideas being recycled over and over. The gameplay felt quite limited and rather outdated as well. A game like Metal Gear Solid in the PSOne, released nearly 15 years ago, offers more depth and variety of gameplay than The Last of Us.

SPOILERS:
I lost count of how many times I grabbed a ladder and placed it to be able to climb up, or how many times I carried Ellie over a wall, or grabbed a platform for her to jump into because she can't swim. This to me showed a lack of imagination on the developer's part (which is surprising given that Uncharted managed to include more variety into it's game play), reusing the same "puzzles" over and over made the game boring in the long run.

The game also became very predictable when it came to the enemies you were facing so much that by the design of the stage you could tell whether or not you would be facing humans or infected. After every horde of enemies you were given some rooms to explore and pick up supplies so that you were adequately prepared for the next horde of enemies. It was so formulaic as was the "strategy" you could use to either evade or engage the enemies that it just felt like a chore by the end of the game.

In any case, and to not write an essay, I was very excited when I bought this game and for the first few hours I was very into the game, but then it just started to become tedious and boring. Quite the disappointment, sadly another case of form over substance.

Spoiler alert

I finished the game a couple of days ago, yet I can't help myself and keep thinking about the story. Damm....

I just finished it myself. I loved uncharted so wanted to try it. I usually HATE "zombie" type games but this story was just so good. You really fall in love with the characters. The ONLY problem I had with the ending was why did the leader of the fireflys even tell Joel that Ellie was still alive? That was the only thing I didn't buy because she could have made her job much easier by just telling him she died during surgery. Anyway, glad I played it

Coming to Mac?

Hey I just wanted to know if they would be converting this game into a macbook form? I can't afford to buy a PS3 just for this game, but I'm dying to play it. If anyone knows a website where I can download it onto my mac or just when it would be released onto mac, can you please tell me? Also, don't give me one of those sites that spams your browser and requires you to go to trash websites and fill out random offers please.

No, it will never be out on Mac I'm afraid. Just buy a cheap preowned PS3 after the PS4 comes out to play it on :) .
