I did extensive Google-fu and that’s “by design” and cannot be changed. I don’t log in every five minutes as I have better things on, so it times out. Hopefully Apple security will catch up soon as it’s driving me insane and entering passwords is not secure.

Lately Apples missteps have been rather puzzling. Where once a long time ago, we could count on them to innovate, today’s game is Apple playing catch up to their competitors.

My experience with the Z Fold7 along with my colleagues at work reveals they did their homework well and delivered a highly efficient and supremely useful foldable.

With all the resources in the world, massive cash reserves and a stellar brand name, Apple has no excuses. The big question is will they actually deliver what they’re capable of?

I concur with this except for the 10-15%. That number may be far less based on the limited usefulness of the wide form factor.

Personal experience with my Z Fold7 reveals the tall form factor to be ideal. I was ready to buy Apples foldable prior to learning it’s wide and not tall. For my use case that simply doesn’t work.

So true. I’m still using and enjoying my iPad mini 7, it’s just different enough to remain highly useful for various use cases.

Back in summer 2025, I played with the Galaxy Z Fold7 a bit while I was in China because so many people were carrying foldable phones over there, see my pic below at a Samsung store at COCO Park, Shenzhen.

Videos look great, my iPhone pic doesn't do it justice. In my hands, it felt incredibly thin. As the ads say, you have to feel it in the hand. So light for the size. Selling very well.

Many Chinese competitors as well. I don't like Android, but I knew the Apple one was coming, otherwise I was tempted to buy this one. Incredibly useful to have when you are walking around a massive city. You can see the price for 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. About $2,500. So, it's pretty affordable for Chinese tier-1 upwardly mobile people.

Once I had an opportunity to try one shortly after the launch, I was amazed at just how useful it was for my workflow. Now many months later, it’s the ideal tool for my work and continues to open up new possibilities.

I’d sure like an Apple foldable but based on current information theirs is too short and wide as compared to the current form factor that Samsung, Google, Oppo and others are offering. I find the tall form factor ideal.

I’m curious what workflow makes the square inner screen ideal? Is it just the side by side apps or something else?

For me the Apple version is ideal because I will use it mostly for media consumption and as an on the go e reader. I feel like I wouldn’t enjoy the tall form factor as much for my use case.

you have an apple watch? suppose if you do that would solve some of those issues
 
Apple does iPhone things by the tens of millions. It can't afford to be first. Technology (developed by others) must be mature before adoption. Imagine 10,000,000 folding screen failures and customers demanding their money back or a fix. Would be a total nightmare. People would lose trust in the company where things :"just work".

I love FaceID ... but touchID is fine

MagSafe, yeah nice to have, but not required

Camera? That is the most important feature for me on the phone, camera is the only reason why I often upgrade to the latest phone. Camera is the only reason why my wife didn't buy the iPhone Air ... Not having a camera compares to the current Pro models kills it for me (and I really really want the Fold/Ultra or whatever it's going to be named).

I mean everybody is different and other people have other preferences - at least for me, the number 1 feature is the camera.

Mine’s not square, it’s tall.

Yes, for gamers (I’m not one) it does make sense.

Apple has a long history of pandering to children and those hooked on somewhat frivolous animations, Memoji and other cutesy elements. It’s a way to capture them when they’re young and has paid off well.

The aspect ratio is like 1.11:1 its basically a square. Glad it works for you but a square display is not useful to me.
