Well, I really don't notice the difference basically because the only ones i've seen were friend's ones, and I didn't use them for a long, just to config them some stuff. Some people say it's more noticeable after using one for some hours and then coming back to a "normal" screen.

This is the Apple TV all over again.

Well, if that's true I guess we will see a great Skylake rMBA in the fall of this year or early next year. Funny that people believed that Broadwell would move a retina display, with fanless design while mantaining battery life, like if it was a big revolution instead of a minor bump over Haswell.

I see this **** all the time. Why get a Mac now we'll have SANDY BRIDGE! It's graphics will be just as a good as a graphics card! But then wait for IVY BRIDGE! It'll change EVERYTHING.

But it really hasn't. It's been the same ****, just a little faster, just a little better. The processor circlejerk is so ridiculous.

Well, nobody points a gun at you telling while saying you have to do. It's as easy as buying when you need, or waiting when you can, and then judging and acting after seeing the release. If it comes to you as a never-ending loop, then it's your fault or your expectations are too high... Now that Intel hasn't any competence, you can only eat what they throw out (or get AMD which is far behind). You want a rMBA? Wait till they do it. You need a MBA now? Buy now, as easy as that.

He's being sarcastic, imitating other people on this forum.

Should've gone to Specsavers...

I know you're being sarcastic here, but a lot of people I know really cannot see the difference. For me the rMBP was simply jaw-droppingly amazing. I was completely stunned by the clarity of the type on the display. It was a huge leap forward. On the other hand my wife couldn't see much, if any, difference. Others have reacted the same way. It's really wierd.

It was the retina screens that actually made me realise I needed my eyes tested - for real. All these graphic designers in my office were swooning and I was like, I can't see the difference. Came back a few days later with reading glasses and it was like I'd seen the light!

Everybody was pretty sure a retina MBA was coming out in 2013. Then it had to come out in 2014.

Yeah, its almost like there was some major delay with the latest generation of Intel chips scheduled for 2013/2014 that messed up Apple's release schedules.

I have a 2012 11" MBA. Best laptop I've ever used. It's small and very light, fits everywhere and can be used on planes and trains. The screen is still a notch above anything else that size, if you don't consider some very recent PC laptop models with 1080p screens.

What makes my eyes bleed every time I use it is the HUGE bezel around the screen. I understand that the screen itself has to take up some space and it was probably not feasible to do otherwise. I once made a paper template to see how big the screen could have been (all technical issues forgotten) with a bezel like the MBP line: nearly 13" (12.7" IIRC) with the same external dimensions.

What I am waiting for is an 11 or 12" form factor with a smaller bezel, retina or not.

Eh? The MBA has a slightly smaller bezel than the MBP. Dunno what you're talking about.

What about an 11" shrunk down to a 10" with no bezel? That would be pretty cool. Yes?

And the keyboard will have smaller sized keys, big enough to use them with toothpicks?

You see the size of the keyboard is the limiting factor (without diminishing the size of the keys...) as the screen & cover must have the same depth and width as the from assy & keyboard's footprint...

The keyboard on the 11" still has a good 3/8" of metal on either side of it.

If Apple got rid of this, they could make the laptop significantly smaller.

Problem is, there would be nowhere to plug in USB devices. The tilde and delete keys have to go somewhere when you press down on them. You can't have the USB ports directly under them.

And the USB ports can't go anywhere else because the laptop is too thin everywhere else.

So Apple has kind of painted themselves into a corner with the wedge design.

In that image, the MBP bezel looks to be about the same size as the MBA bezel. Still don't know what you're on about.

I just want to discuss to explain, not to flame, so please bear with me a moment. ;)

If you look at the bezels in the picture where the two are next to each other, you will notice that the bezel on the MBP is slightly more than half the size of the MBA. Or that the MBA has a bezel almost twice the size of the MBP. I own exactly both those models, though my 17" MBP has the BTO 1920x1200 screen with the silver bezel, not black.

From the top of the lid to the top of the screen, the MBA is 19 pixels and the MBP is 14 pixels in that image. So I guess the MBP does have 25% smaller bezels. I just measured and that difference looks like about 0.2 inches. So if you made the screen 0.4 inches bigger in both directions that translates to a screen that's 0.56 inches bigger diagonally, i.e., 12.16 inches. Not an enormous difference.

I agree that it would be great if Apple made the bezel much smaller but was just disagreeing with the idea that they're already much smaller in the MBP.
