The LCD difference betwween 15" and 17" MBP

It is heard that the quality of LCD in 17" MBP is better than 15".
Today I went to a apple store, and I try to compare these two LCDs.
It seems that 17" LCD shows more detail and more gradient in color.
Is it because of the resolution??
If a 15" MBP LCD change to the high resolution antii-glare, will it shows more detail and color content??
