Hi All

Would there be any reason why a single character on my MacBook Pro keyboard would suddenly not work?

All the other keys work, except the 'a' key, it simply stopped working earlier today... didn't drop the Mac, haven't spilled anything on it, nada!

Anything I should look for?

Weird eh?

What model is your MBP? A lot of the 2016/2017 MBP and 2015/2016/2017 MB have this issue. Fortunately it's now covered by Apple for those models even if you're out of warranty.

Did a speck of dust get under the key?

I have used an air blower to sealer out any much that might have gotten under there, alas no joy.

This is a MacBook Pro fro way earlier, it's my older early 2011 model. Typical... just as I am honing my FinalCut pro X skills by preparing a video to accompany my gumtree or eBay sale page for it, it decides to not work on me. Grrrrrr

PS: I still have loads of learning to do before I can make a worth watching video haha

Not really, most keyboards since they have been invented have been subject to single key failures caused by dirt or worse stopping the key being sensed as pressed. Other failures can affect entire rows.

Blow the dust out and see if that helps.

Too much running away... w for the win!

Get a little vacuum and suck out the baby piece of doritos or sand under the a key, or try to blow it out with a can of compressed air.
