Brand new i3 Mac Mini, mine doesn't pulse while sleeping. I've tried resetting SMC/NVRAM and same thing. Any ideas?

I read somewhere that this is the normal behaviour of the Mac Mini now.

If this is true, then it is Sad. I have a 2012 Mini and I like the pulsing led, it tells me that it is sleeping and not off.

When I buy the 2018 one it will bother me if this is true.

Can anyone confirm this, please?

Maybe gone since Apple had the opinion that sleep is no longer necessary since modern CPUs are so efficient at idle.

My next question is if it does indeed sleep?
Can anyone confirm this, please?

If it is so silent as I've read, do we have any way to verify if the mini is sleeping, apart from waking it up to check (which is rather silly).

I say this because my 2012 Mini sometimes refuses to sleep of doesn't sleep, and the pulsing led was a clear indicator of its sleep.

Getting rid of the pulse to indicate sleep is another change that seems to serve no purpose, other than confusing customers who have used a prior Mac with a power light made at any point during the last 18 years.

I'm surprised Apple didn't make the light come on when the Mac mini is off, and off when it's on:
