On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Apple's next event, which is rumored to see the unveiling of the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple Watch Series 9, and second-generation Apple Watch Ultra.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's next event will likely take place on Tuesday, September 12, followed by the launch of new devices on Friday, September 22. The event is expected to take place with a similar format to last year's iPhone unveiling, involving an in-person component with members of the media invited to Apple Park, a pre-recorded video presentation, and hands-on time with Apple's new products afterwards.

With just over a month to go until then, we discuss our expectations of the iPhone 15 lineup and some of the latest rumors about the devices, including a potential 2TB storage option for the Pro models. We also talk through the significance of the S9 chip as the Apple Watch Series 9 and second-generation Apple Watch Ultra's main upgrade and what else we could see announced at the event, such as new accessories with USB-C ports.

I want to know what the trade in values will be from the 14+ to the 15 Pro. Maybe I will just keep the + because a lot of people seem to think the honeymoon period for Dynamic Island is over. I still like the way it was demonstrated when it was announced.

Expectations?. Null.
Horrible dynamic island in more devices, removing the only non falible part of the phone (mute swith). Another color.
Fastest iphone ever. Bad battery tech, as in the current pro and Max 14s (really, in 6 months battery health declined 5%?).
Another dull "update".

Cant even edit a misstyped number in the dial pad in my "smartphone".
Lots os imessage updates only valuable for USA users (the rest of the wolrd uses WA or Telegram or other).
Shortcuts keep being "almost good", cant set a VPN to connect or disconnect automatically based on location, for example.
The Keyboard is pathetic, the correction is super poor and machine learning from Apple is quite poor.
Siri is an ooooold joke that is 6 years behind at least the "competitors", it is not even a race in AI with Apple, they are not even training for the race, just looking from the Tv thinking "I want to be there when Ingrow up".
Horizontal alignment in Max sized devices would be really nice to have, butit is a forgotten dream.
My expectation: so poor adoption that people starts looking into foldable phones from real innovative companies and in 2 years the maret share balance is changing.

I highly doubt dynamic island will have any impact on trade in values. It depends on the carrier deals, retailers or apple sweetening the trade in value.

Came here for the Samsung article and got this?

I didn't say it did. I'm just saying how much can I get for the 14+ as a trade in if I wanted to upgrade to the pro. If it's a minuscule amount, trading in is probably not worth it.

It changes every year, it was 99 bucks extra to upgrade from 12 PM to 13 PM after carrier/apple or Best Buy deals. But Apple and carriers lowered trade in value for 13 PM to 14 PM, making it less attractive to upgrade. You just have to wait for the trade in deals to be announced.

You can check with 1) Apple 2) Craigslist 3) Meta Marketplace 4) Your carrier, to see what yours would be worth… 😉

honestly don't understand the value of shortcuts, every time I've sat down to play with them I can never think of anything worth making a shortcut for.
I use them to automatically set my three (yes I'm paranoid) alarms in the morning, and then another one to manually turn them off in the morning instead of clicking all three. Having the alarms on every day meant they would all still go off, so this was a better solution. So at least one shortcut user exists!

I lose focus when you guys talk about needing a 2tb phone storage. Nobody needs that (which you say) unless the have weird fear of storing their videos in the cloud.

Yes, Apple will use this event to build hype for the Pro Vis. Why did you skip quickly through that obvious thing at the beginning by saying "Maybe this huge thing that isn't get buzz (but Apple has been working on for at least five years and will be a huge new platform that if Apple can pull off they will dominate), is going to be skipped by Apple in its biggest announcement stage of the year."

The lack of meaningful upgrade on the iPhone 15 Pro is disappointing, I was hoping for a better zoom which is so essential these days.. but apparently, it will only be on the 15 pro max, which is way too big a phone for me.
The iPhone Pro & Pro Max 16 are both rumored to have the better zoom capabilities next year, that the 15 Pro Max will have this year. It appears waiting a little while will get you the features you want & the smaller form factor… 🤞🏻
