Neurostatic (noun): The uncontrollable urge to declare every new technology “overhyped” right before it becomes mainstream. 😄

You can either adopt AI or become neurostatic. Evolution doesn’t send reminders.

Yes, submit to the rigid dogma and groupthink of the AI apologists. Neurostatic is what happens to your brain when you rely on AI to think and act for you.

That right there is my ideal Iphone. Bezel-less display and wrap around glass. It might be worth it to stick around with Iphone and wait it out till that one releases.

My titanium iPhone 16 Pro to heavy for my liking! Go for iPhone 18 Pro Max in September so I use it as a iPad Pro tablet too as well as a smartphone!

...
And instead of AI that NO ONE outside of Apple is asking for, just make a version os Siri that actually works the way Apple said it would work when first launched years ago.

This is reminding me of the old days at the height of the Apple-Android flame wars when any mention of "I prefer <x> in Android" or "I prefer <y> in iOS" could ignite a bad-tempered flame war between Apple and Android fans. Those two camps seem to have sort of learned how to co-exist with each other now, or just run out of energy because I don't really see as much "my phone OS is better than yours" stuff on the internet now but AI seems to have become the new incendiary device that you can lob into almost any tech forum to ignite a flame war.

Regular listener but first time commenting. My disappointment in my iPhone 17 Pro Max is at an all-time low. Battery life is abysmal. But the time I get to the office with a 35 minute commute, my phone is at 85% or lower after checking social using Apple Maps via CarPlay, and playing a podcast. My screen dims itself constantly, just like it did with my 15 PM (with every auto brightness setting turned off). Sometimes I feel like they forgot to put my “cooling vapor chamber” inside. The phone gets hot if I open Instagram/Canva/Lightroom/any GPT app. Yes I realize Canva and Lightroom and ChatGPT are using a lot of processing power, but I thought this phone was made for the purpose of using apps like this.

There’s no way I’d be able to go the whole day without charging. Just by creating a post for social media, I’ll drop down to the 60’s or 50’s. I keep most of my location services off, I have most push notifications off. My phone feels like it’s CONSTANTLY too hot. I probably haven’t been able to use it an “actual” full brightness for more than 20 minutes.

The ONLY thing that gets me through the day is knowing that my standard 2-year upgrade schedule means I’ll get the iPhone 20th Anniversary phone when it debuts. But my god I hate this ****ing phone and can’t believe I’m going to try to use this for another 15 months.

Sounds like it's time to factory reset, skip restoring your iCloud or other backup, and set the thing up from scratch. My 17 Pro Max has none of these issues. I've only ever felt it get hot when it was being used for navigation while in the hot car (AC doesn't work and it was over 90 outside) on a MagSafe charger and it still wasn't hot enough to dim the screen. It's cooler than my 16 Pro Max before it and way cooler than my Pixel 10 Pro XL.

If I skip the iCloud restore, will I lose all my message threads? That’s the main thing I need to carry over each time. I’ve had these issues since the first week (early November 2025) and it’s only gotten worse.

Just make sure you have Messages backup enabled in iCloud and that the Messages sync is enabled in your iCloud settings after you set up the phone and it will sync automatically separately from your full system backup.

Make sure you manually force a Messages sync in iCloud settings before you reset in case a recent sync hasn't been done for whatever reason.

I’d agree, if AI is replacing your thinking. But if it’s expanding what you can create, that’s a different story. The real path to Idiocracy isn’t using tools; it’s refusing to think, with or without AI.
