Battery life was the huge reason I needed to upgrade to the Ultra (also durability) got the Ultra 2 (skipped Ultra 1) - I have a day job where I can’t use my phone for audio and having a cellular watch has been huge for me - more importantly audio playback on the watch is a huge battery drain and the standard Series watches will not last a full 8 hour shift playing audio even local audio - with the ultra I can comfortably make it through an entire day without needing to worry - mostly play locally using Pocket Casts which has the best watch app for making sure you have your downloads there on the watch - also does a great job streaming new episodes not downloaded before leaving for the day. Audible also has an awesome watch app for local audio. Also my job would get my Series watch banged up a bunch so very nice having the durability - now use the Series stainless watch as my evening watch when I’m relaxing and for sleeping.

In the past it was a constant battle for battery life and trying to fast charge at lunch and just destroying my battery health trying to use it as an iPod.

Have you considered getting one of those small 5K or 10K powerbanks which have the Watch MagSafe charger on them?

I have those - ultra is just so much better not needing to manage the battery all day - I’m clearly not using the product how they expect for the series watches, so very glad the ultra exists

What an odd comment…

I bought it… for what it was intended — sports.

So how can you tell me it is not designed for me? I still wouldn't mind a smaller version.

Bizarre…
You wrote what it is that you used the watch for. If you purchased it as a diving watch, trekking or mountain climbing, then you wouldn’t have those complaints. Smaller means more difficult to read and less battery life. For consumers like you, they already offer a smaller Apple Watch!
