I am less concerned about the New Siri than the Old Siri getting dumber and dumber every day. It cannot connect to HomePods without multiple "I cannot connect to the network" or "I cannot connect to iPhone" messages. Carply voice direction literally get worse every day (on top of the idiotic new button and graphic design). I have 25K messages with girlfriend Jenny, yet when I tell Siri to send a message to Jenny, it refuses to continue the existing exchange and just list all her contact info and numbers and emails and asks me which I want to send a message to. It is just moronic.

Tim Cook has to go he’s been a disaster with this Siri situation. They were first to market and it’s the worst of any of them! Tiny adjustments year after year for the devices and software has all kinds of issues now. Your the boss take accountability!

Scott was a joke with Apple Maps, still won’t touch it! Especially with ads are coming soon
Scott Forstall was unfairly fired soon after Apple Maps was first released, thus not giving him a chance to fix it. Forstall valued attention to detail, so he likely would’ve fixed most of the problems with Apple Maps if he wasn’t fired.

There’s a reason why many people think that iOS 6 is the greatest smartphone operating system of all time.

It'll be the fear of being sued that is holding up "Siri" enhancements.
Apple is like a huge cash piñata that class action specialists love to give a good beating.

Then there is the national regulators to appease. China, EU etc. Fines (aka super tax)

It's not like it's technically hard to do.
That and Apple's reluctance to jump into something just because everyone else is, they've always taken the route of "getting it right" rather than just doing it.

I looked into this a little and it sounds like an Anthropic acquisition would be too expensive and also complicated. But I like the direction they are going with integrating Claude into Xcode. Hopefully adding some hooks into Siri is next on their to-do list!

I think what apple is trying to do and what the rest of the techbros want are wildly different. Coming up with a privacy-forward implementation of something that pretty much requires a Mac Studio to run locally is a tall order…
Chatbot Siri won’t be running locally.

[2027] The MacRumors Show: Delayed Siri Revamped Again?

Quite apart from the common refrain of the Apple tax, or the cultish roadmap secrecy, it's mind boggling that the most valuable brand, with effectively limitless resources, and a long history of cutting edge tech, can't even compete with a grubby fleamarket like Amazon.. It's not like they're bogged down with partner contracts in a money pit labyrinth like an HS2 style mega clusterf***. Or tied up with legacy architecture.

Apple owns almost every aspect of Hardware and Software, yet they developed a culture of iToy obsession while almost giving up on the pros and pushing the computing envelope their toys need to run on. Now they can't even keep up in the toy market. Any indication they use their vast resources to fix anything is of course a mystery.

I kinda of hate to apologize for the self-made mess Apple is in, but the explosive growth—and security nightmare—of ClawdBot has opened my eyes to how both how powerful and difficult to implement this new Siri may be.

My review of Image Playground:

Trash! Utter, laughable trash!
What a trash app. It generates images so badly that it’s laughable that anyone but a toddler would be using this trash app.

Apple, just stop producing and keeping this trash. The amount of trash code and trash apps Apple keeps releasing is ridiculous. Same with the Invites app that nobody uses.

Fix your main operating systems and all bugs that are in your systems for years on end...

Produce, keep and improve your killer apps like Aperture and Final Cut Pro used to be. Stop focusing on stupid "teen and kiddie audience" apps, there are plenty of other companies and teens producing these. And they even do it better than you!

Give your attention and love to pro apps and support pro app developers. I don't know what the hell happened with Apple going all rainbow with kiddie and teen crap - leave all that to teen developers and young start-ups. Example - your dumb and non-functioning Siri turns your iPhone gay every time you use it - hello pink borders!? Like wth?

And for the love of god - start hiring people - your current leadership is out of touch! They can't manage the same amount of products and services you offer now with what you did 10 years ago. You are lacking talent - go hire!

You got big and fat, Apple! Not in people, but in services and products and bureaucracy. Slow in decision making like molasses, because you didn't hire and fire like you should. That means your leadership is a failure! If the leadership was stellar, you would be #1 company in the world with a $10 trillion lead.

Your leadership gave so much Keynote time to this trash app, Image Playground, that everyone knew you are full of horse manure back then. A true SLAP IN THE FACE moment. And it just keeps getting worse.

The "pink" Siri delays are an embarrassment. Your marketing department has been running Apple. Leadership absent from tough decision making - what an embarrassment - basically the marketing dept. heads turning you into MICROSOFT. Cook is as soft as a noodle leader lately...

What happened to THINK AND BE DIFFERENT company? Apple, you are now now APPLESOFT.

Refocus and stop producing trash like Image Playground and Invites. Nobody needs apps like this. What trash!

... and start being Apple again. Focus on few things but do them damn well. Stop trying to be all for everyone.

I’d venture to say both Apple and Microsoft had better wake up rather quickly. Linux is quickly becoming a bigger segment. Runs great on old hardware, supports bigger AAA games now than OSX does, and has zero AI push going forward. Rock solid but it’s not as consumer friendly yet but they are making big strides…

Siri revamped, uhh - Siri have misunderstood that, of course, so now she will become a full blown Vampire.

Hang in there folks. See how Apple daddy deals with it? 🧛‍♀️😂

Edit: I can be a bad speller, but the auto-correct is 😱

They need some real engineers.. they got Google to give them the foundation models, just get Google to develop iOS all together I guess..

To be fair, as a user coming from a S23 ultra which had Gemini which is incredible. I prefer the simple Apple approach without the pillaging of my data.

After using Gemini you can see how many adds and emails and things you start getting relating to all your questions. Let’s not forget, google is marketing company and they make pure profit from our data and are very care free with that data. Sell it to everyone so whilst yes it’s better, it crosses a line I’m happy to stay on the other side of.

The saga of Siri the enigmatic assistant, continues to entertain.

With all the rumors, leaks, predictions and unforeseen delays, one things for certain and that's proof that nothing embarrasses the Cupertino company.

Uncertainty reigns supreme, plot twists and turns abound, thus this ongoing debacle is quite an interesting movie. Never a dull moment.
