I considered two possibilities:
First, they might have cancelled the 32" iMac Pro since they now recommend the Mac Mini with a Studio Display, they may suggest pro users combine it with the new MacStudio or MacPro and the StudioDisplay.

Secondly, a new Magic Mouse is probable, given the current model's poor performance caused by its polling rate, along with rumours of a redesign.

I expected an updated iMac with a ProMotion display, but I think we might be disappointed and Apple will continue to call it a 'home computer'

I think the iMac is a beautiful machine, and suggesting the MacMini + StudioDisplay combo feels a bit underwhelming to me.

I would just get an iMac and call it a day.
iMacs are only ok until you want to change something like bigger/smaller display, stronger processor, more RAM, etc. Or if something breaks. No thank you to All-In-Ones. Studio + Studio would be my choice. Or if one is willing to tolerate those issues one might as well get a MacBook Pro and mobility.

Yes we know - you overbearingly force an iMac onto all your friends - when that fails you seperate their partners from them even going behind their back trying to get their partners to do it without them knowing. We’ve all seen the thread you made recently.

The rumors about a 32" iMac (Pro or otherwise) could originate in the development of two second-generation Studio Displays, a 5K and a 6K. That would make sense in the context of Apple’s current product line. Gurman has good sources, but he tends to jump to conclusions.

I’ll predict the “home computer” iMac will get a redesign for OLED and ProMotion around the same time as the MacBook Air, perhaps with M7. I don’t see the display changing until then, but M5 and/or M6 will make it more powerful than ever. That’s the best thing about Apple silicon, if you ask me. Despite all the cynicism around here about the company’s motives, Apple has aggressively pushed each generation of its silicon forward without fear of eclipsing the previous generations. So the M4 iMac (2024) holds up alongside the M1 Max Mac Studio (2022).

IMHO, the executive behind this no-holds-barred approach to the silicon should be the next CEO. It may or may not be Anand Shimpi, I don’t know, but regardless there’s something fearless about it that is reminiscent of S.J. in his prime.

I just really love the classic 27" 5K iMac design; it was really stylish.

When you hear "an American muscle car," you picture specific brands or models.
Similarly, when I hear "Mac," I immediately think of an iMac.

I think what you said makes more sense, as they're already recommending getting a combo with the studio display.

I'm working as a developer, and I have some stuff to compile, even if it's not that heavy. I think the M5 will be able to handle this. Xcode, especially, asks what RAM you have.

Having a 60HZ display is also one of the downsides.

I was thinking about the Mini + Studio setup also, but it's better to wait and see what's out there first.
I'll compare prices and see if it makes sense for the price gap between the iMac or Studio Display and the mini-studio combo.

On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we talk through Apple's plans to refresh the Studio Display and Pro Display XDR.

Apple's next-generation Studio Display is widely expected to feature the same 27-inch screen size as the current model, but with mini-LED technology instead of LCD. This upgrade would result in increased brightness and a higher contrast ratio compared to the current model, bringing it in line with the MacBook Pro, which has touted mini-LED since 2021.
Just want to point out that this is incorrect. Mini-LED is a backlight technology for LCD displays. It is not “instead of LCD,” it is “instead of” whatever backlight was used before, which was probably LED with local dimming.

Mini-LED is an improvement in all the ways described, but I just want folks to know that it is a backlight improvement to good old LCD technology, and not a whole new display tech.

Probably just a typo for “instead of LED” — I guess using terms like “edge-lit” (using LEDs) and “full-array local dimming” (using mini-LEDs) is thought by the editors to be too technical, but yes the shorthand they use instead should at least be accurate.

Stop waiting on Apple
Buy the LG 32 6k today.
I do not only want a nice display, I want a good looking with great sound as well. The ASD I have now is the first monitor with great speakers build in. And it needs an integrated webcam as well.

Idk if anyone here can answer me this, but is it possible to run a Apple Display on a Windows 11 PC? Or is better to avoid it and only good for Mac use?

If it is a PC with Thunderbolt 3 or above, the Studio Display works well, including camera and sound. Without Thunderbolt, I don’t know — Apple displays are Thunderbolt displays.
