To this day when, every time I hear Nights in White Satin, I get chills. There is something about that song. I tend to stop what I am doing, close my eyes, and just listen. What a great song.

Agreed. It is ageless. A stunning song from an outstanding album (in a year when a great many superlative albums were released).

I heard TMB in the 60's when Nights in White Satin was first on the local radio. Although it was lovely I thought it was an odd sound compared to the 'normal' Detroit STAX R&B, The Band, The Beatles, King Crimson, Rolling Stones and other UK bands that were all the rage. I was soon addicted to TMB and when their To Our Childrens Childrens Children album came out (1973?), that was the one that has totally hooked me as being the ultimate 'concept' album (and still very relevant even today!).

I finally got to see them live during the time that YES keyboardist Patrick Moraz was on board.

Does anyone remember the "Blue Jays" album that the two Js (Justin and John) did solo after leaving the band for awhile? I thought it was marvellous but I have never seen a CD or online version of this album.

Time to fire up iTunes and run through a few old favourites. Thanks for a lovely Seventh Sojourn down memory lane...

Edit: oh wow - I just searched the iTunes Store and there is the Blue Jays album!

Agreed, and also think that "To Our Children's Children's Children" an excellent album.

I loved their sound and thought - and still think - some of their albums astonishingly good.

I have all their early stuff* (Other Side of Life, and before) because I grew up with a Moody Blues fan mother (then again I had a Beatles fan dad and utterly detest them) and it's the sound of my childhood and I have lots of those ambiguous happy memories of my late-single-digits-early teens with their stuff playing in the background.

My parents have seen them a few times. The last time they went, John was so stoned or drunk he couldn't remember the lyrics to his songs. They never went to another Moodies concert.

But a tour at this age? No Ray Thomas no care. :(

* the beginning of Veteran Cosmic Rocker still gives me a chill.
