    hello there,

So my macbook pro arrived today...2.33/2/160, and i was so woried that the case would be warped, it would be hot, there would be dead pixels and super uneven displays with bad 'grain', i truely thought that it would be DOA. So I open the box today, and it seems to be one of the best made products that i have ever used, easily the same build quality as my old powerbook.

So I have started this thread not to go on about how great macs are, but instead to let all those people browsing macrumors' forums that are wondering if they should buy a macbook pro or not know that these really are good machines.

So please leave all of your positive comments about apple's flagship range of laptops!

great to see people un-whining about their new computers! :D

My MacBook started off badly; a stuck pixels, random shutdowns, then it didn't sleep when the lid was closed. It's been to the shop twice, but now it is working like a dream. I love that machine; if i could, i would take it everywhere i went. I still can't believe it is the baseline notebook Apple sell; its so quick!

I reckon Apple make the best computers on the market; it's just that forums like this are always flooded by people complaining about their computers. They are the threads people spend the most time in, so threads like this tend to get ignored. Keep the positive posts coming! :)

Nice thread! Good innitiative to post something positive. I don't have a MBP, but I can safely say my 15" PowerBook is the best computer I've ever owned (and I've owned/own a lot of different machines).

It's frustrating and dissapointing if one's new Apple purchase is flawed in some way. But once you do get it perfect, it becomes the very definition of that famous and beloved :apple: User Experience. :)

Mine arrived today too - 15'/2.33/Stock - with my new ipod video and I absolutely LOVE it. My face hurts from smiling so much

It is a little hot though, particulary in the left hand corner - but other than that I'm stoked!

Mine's great! There's a bright band at the bottom of the display, but it's only noticeable at the grey Apple boot screen.

I just received my new MacBook Pro 2.16/120GB Friday night, and I have to say, I'm extremely pleased with it, right out of the box. It's my first Mac, and I have to say that after 4 days with it, it has to be the best computer I've ever owned. So sleek and beautiful, just like an elegant lady. AND, OS X has to be the most user friendly OS that has ever been developed, bar none. If you're thinking of buying one, but are holding back for whatever reason, don't, go buy one. you won't be sorry! (I'm not)

My Virtual MBP 15 is soooo pretty. I dream about it at night - life is so smooth running with it, and i'm slowing getting all my pictures cataloged in Aperture.

Tracey.... dreaming of it and thinking about stealing money from the kids to buy her computer :p . Mommy needs some retail therapy this week! AND i'm getting disparate - trying to figure out how to buy a refub even!

I too am in love with my less-than-a-week-old base 15" C2D. Display is beautiful, everything is exceeding my wildest dreams. This is my first laptop and my first mac, so I am in total awe of how solid and fast this thing is, also how sweet OS X is. I keep learning something new each day, hell I just found expose yesterday. That is the most innovative feature I have seen in a long time. Anyways very impressed and overwhelmed with my new toy. My wife hates it and me! LOL

Got my 17" MBP last Friday. Can't stay away from it. It is truly beautiful. Like many others, I was anxiously examining it for warped case, dead pixels and uneven lighting. Had nothing of the sort and have been in heaven for the last few days. Never want to go back to Windows (even though I have to for work purposes).

BTW, how does one discover the week in which it was manufactured?

I love my C2D MBP. I've owned a lot of Macs (and a number of PCs) over the years, and this is by far the best computer I've ever worked on. It did run a touch hot when I got it, but I installed Fan Control 1.1 and now I can use it on my lap... even when gaming.

Fan Control also fixed my brother's CD MBP heat problems... and he had one of the first off the line. It runs the fans slightly faster, but I can't hear a difference in daily use.

Well, I got to say I love my ****in MBP. I can't believe I haven't had any problems whatsoever! I mean seriously, this piece of *** just won't fail me no matter how much I disrespect it  I also can't believe that when I did have to send my wife's MB in for repair, Apple just fixed it without issue even with my third party RAM installed. Unbelieveable!!! I just can't stand quality products with excellent service :apple: :apple: :apple: :)

I must say, even though i have some problems my MBP is amazing. I've had PC laptops before and they just don't compare. I am really trying to save up so i can get a MacPro because im so pleased with what ive seen and experienced so far.

I just got my 17" MBP C2D. It's great except for the the uneven backlighting around the sides. I'll send it in later on but I need the computer for school...

I expected it to a lot faster then my old 17" PB 1.66 Ghz. I can tell it's faster in somethings but can't tell much difference in others... Most of the programs are running UB. Parallels runs great with the bootcamp partition though!

    I'm happy so far!

I have a 17" MacBook Pro. I love it, except for the fact that I can't get Parallels to run. Unlike you, I don't have a Boot Camp partition set up. 100% of my programs are Universal Binaries (well, except for one, but that's a PPC wrapper for a Java application, so it doesn't really count). :D

That sucks. Have you tried using Boot Camp? Or do you already have a virtual machine set up?

Edit: I'll post in other thread..

I've had my stock base 15" C2D for 2 months now. I really had to scrape the money together to afford it. I have to say it's simply wonderful. Reliable, quiet, cool, fast and beautiful looking. I'm so glad I found the extra money for it instead of the MacBook - I know the 13.3" screen would have been too small as this is my only computer.

This is my 4th mac, and the household has 4 ipods and 2 airport expresses. I've found all the products well made and easy to use. Next on my list is an Apple TV ......

I smile when I think about my mb.
I can't keep my hands off her when I'm near her.
I keep buying her presents -- just little baubles I think she might like or look pretty in.

Is this a thing called love? How can one love an inanimate object? She can't be inanimate -- she talks and is fully animated, and goes with me wherever I wish. And she looks so good and feels so good to my touch, and never says "No" to any of my desires to try something new.

I think I'll buy her some flowers!
