The NetBook Buy Thread

As I've tried before, looks like now the new NetBooks, with the GN40 graphics chipset, can play 720p.

Since buying my new Alu MB last month I have also been thinking about buying a netbook as I don't want to take my MB out and about with me all of the time in case it gets damaged or stolen. Instead I wanted to buy a second laptop/netbook to use when commuting/cafes/holiday etc.

The Problem - I can't stand Windows or PC's and just couldn't bring myself to buying one even though I think netbooks are really great for what they are. I also didn't fancy a Linux machine as I know little about the OS.

The Solution - Today, I have just bought a one month old white MacBook 2.1 (Late 2008), which is still under warranty, came complete with the original purchase receipt and only cost me £500.00.

Okay, I realise this is about £200-£250 more than a netbook however I have a fully functional computer with superdrive, plenty of HDD space and a great operating system. Perhaps others may consider doing the same?

Interestingly enough, Dell's E4300 series is about the same price as the Aluminum MacBooks...

So much for Dell's being "cheaper"...

Just got my order info for my new work laptop. I guess my company's going with the E4300 (13" laptop) for portability. The E4200 (12") only have SSD drives which skyrockets the price...

Have you got your Dell laptop yet mate? If so how's the battery life and are you still tempted to buy a netbook?
