That could quite possibly be the dumbest thing I have heard in a LONG time. Unless you're working and paying for it yourself, save your parents the hard earned money. My parents are plenty well off and never once bought me "best of the best". If I wanted something as lavish as an Apple Computer or a freakin car, I was payin for it myself. Honestly taught be the value of a buck

Hell, I even payed my own way through a 4 year education at UT Austin.

Yes i bought and paid for it all by myself i have a summer job selling cherries in Marin(?), Ca for $60 a day 3 days a week for 10 weeks
And here is the car i am saving up for

Grounded...Dude honestly if your grounded your probly 13 and don't need the best of the best... what do you even use your laptop for..

I'm 14, and I need a 15" for:
Graphics editing (Photoshop)
Light gaming
Movies (iMovie)
Huge iTunes library (50GB and growing)
Video encoding (Handbrake)
Music editing (GarageBand, Audacity, Cubase)
The screen (13" is too small IMO)
The list goes on and on...point is, don't underestimate people's computer usage by age.

Ahah

You find someone similar to you everyday eh?

Just got my 13" i5 and love it. Been using a core duo Blackbook for almost 6 years. I came across some disposable income and made the best decision. Looking forward to using this i5 for another 6 years with it being capable of using 16GB ram and 1TB HDD.

I think 2011 MBP are over rated just because they come out doesnt mean you have to run out and buy it this goes out for people who buy a new macbook every year it comes out i think thats a waste of money i bought my macbook one month before the 2011 macbooks came out and im still fine with it yes i see the benchmarks are larger and stuff but how fast can you get arnt our machines fast enough already? If you really want speeds dont change your machine, just get a SSD and put more ram in your MBP but if you have anything with a i5 CPU and higher i think you should be fine but to just go and buy a new mbp just for the GHZ and the cpu alone or that thunder bolt they are talking about is just a waste of money if you dont need it.

NO!
There is nothing wrong with the old MBP. It has a better graphics card.

Save your money for the next update. Then do it.

Everything here can be done on a 13" or a desktop, if you really need the screen estate then get a 24" external. Two screens and it's still cheaper than a 15".

OP, if you have bad grades then it's much wiser to spend your time studying instead of working 3x a week for 10 weeks! Education is really important nowadays, if you get a good job you can buy as many MBPs as you want.

... and have been grounded ever since i got it..

It is a summer job

You don't need to insult anyone. At my high school, whenever someone sees my iMac, iPad, or iPhone, they get jealous. It's a status thing when your a teen. The more Apple products you own, the cooler you are.

Ladies and gentlemen, the youth of America. Listen kid (real talk), in the real world, you won't be cool unless you have the income to match the gear. I hope you're on a good path to college and a good job, because mom and dad ain't gonna be around all yer life to spoil you.

And I don't know what's more impressive - the fact that your parents spent all that money on the loot or the fact that you actually convinced them to sequester those supplies for you. Not trollin'. Genuinely impressed. +1

As for OP, if you got the money and you're OK with spending it. TBH, you should put that $200 in a savings account. You see how it is nowadays, right? :D

Kids say the darnest things, ya know!

EDIT: To the 14 year-old who needs the 15" - I call BS. I have friends in the industry with doing what you're doing on lower specs. It's not that we don't think you guys are very functional. We're just amazed that you guys are capable of such activity at a ripe age. KEEP DAT UP! ::thumbsup::

Do you really think you'll be able to sell your 13" for $900? Micro Center has brand-new 2.4GHz C2D 2010 MBPs selling for $900.

And WTF did you do to get yourself grounded for so long?
Just Sold!!!!!
YIPPIE KYE AYE MOTHER *******

how old are you?

I dont think anyone who is 14 (like the guy further up the post) needs a brand new mbp 15" for a "50gb" iTunes library.... and also I doubt they need the absolute fastest PC for whatever weekend editing they do...

but the OP seems to be more switched on, I hope you get better results in school :)
