The new HTC ONE (M7)

I'm on version 5.0.569008. Same as you.

The version after ours, not the latest one, definitely showed improvement for the great majority of people. As regards the latest version, which came with 4.2.2, there has not been much feedback on that one.

It is not going to make bright-light landscape images as good as an S4 (ask MacRumorUser) 🙂 but for some of us, who use our phone in a variety of lighting conditions, this may well be a very balanced camera for images.

I'll do some experimenting tomorrow when im doing my constitutional walking on the beach with the camera and see if it takes any better shots. 🙂

Hopefully both normal setting, HDR and landscape settings are improved, but lets face it - its still going to be a 4mp photo at the end of the day.

A few snaps. Still issue with softness in the background (which will only be resolved with more pixels sadly) but not too bad for 'social media' but thats about as good as you can say sadly...

A few quick more, as I wanted to test to see if over exposure has improved so took some really quick shots on subjects where a lot of white would rebound in the sun and over expose. Slight improvement alright (touches still over-exposed but not radiating white as before), but not mind blowing.

These were taken in 29 degrees of baking hot sunshine !!! Global warming will kill us all ;-)

I have an HTC One Developer Edition in Canada.
Still no update for me. Any other owners out there of the DE who didn't get the update yet, or am I the only one (starting to feel like that)?

No developer edition has recieved the update yet. Basically they are releasing updates based on CID (which is the ID of the device per territory).

My CID was VODAP001 which means Vodafone, European unlocked. This would mean I would have to wait for Vodafone UK to rollout the update.

In order to get the 4.2.2 update straight away I unlocked my bootloader via HTCDEV.com

I then used the REVONE hack to enable my phone to have S-OFF. With S-OFF you can modify the model ID of your device. Thereby making it any other territory version or even a developer version.

I gave myself SUPERCID which is an almighty CID that allows any 'OFFICIAL' stock recovery rom to be loaded regardless of territory.

I then flashed the stock RUU recovery rom from a territory where the rollout has officially happened.

Once this was flashed onto my device, I changed the CID to that country HTC_Y13 and then checked Software Update, which in turn downloaded the updates including the very latest 4.2.2 update.

Afterwards I changed my CID back to SuperCID in case I ever want to go back to a different RUU.


It sounds complicated and I was nervous but it all worked.

So now I have the latest software, and the ability to flash a stock HTC recovery image (RUU) from any territory or device.

Ok charge time tonight, was down at 32% charge and I plugged in the phone to the charger at 9:28pm

22:42pm green light comes on at 100% full charge.

Definitely seem to have improved the charge time for me.

That is way quicker. Wall charging (as opposed to USB) would take over double that time with me.

That said, I wonder if HTC is deciding to sacrifice some battery longevity in order to do away with a minor criticism of the One, namely slow charging time.

The PMIC is there, it just isn’t enabled. My guess would be that HTC wants to prioritize battery longevity and minimize any even potential extra wear since the battery on the One is sealed inside."

These (and the beach ones) are STUNNING. So glad to see the camera improving as I just got my One in the mail!

HTC are an absolute joke, I have just spoken to their Support Line in the UK.

4.2.2 Update is still NOT available here, my device is an unlocked handset and they have officially said the update is not released for the UK.

When the update is available, it could take a further 40 days for 4.2.2 to reach your handset as the updates are sent out in batches according to your IMEI number.

This is a joke.
