imac screen flicker

I have just spoken to Apple about the issues with the screen flickering and occasionally going black, they said they are aware of the problem and will have a solution within 3 weeks!!! Still happy to carry on selling them though even knowing they have a problem and no solution!!!!!! Well done apple keep banging out new products even though the existing ones aren't up to scratch.

Received my computer last Tuesday. It had a slight yellow hue, but I was planning to ignore it. Now the screen is flickering, but only when booted into Snow Leopard, not Windows 7. (I do a LOT of gaming under Windows 7.)

Called up apple last night and I'm going to have the computer repaired. I'd rather not deal with a constant swap of machines, having to re-load time machine/win7. I find it hard to believe that the flickering is a hardware issue and not software/firmware. Oh well. Fresh parts for me!

Just look at some other threads. People are complaining, that the delivery dates are being moved forward again and again.
Looks to me like not too many is being manufactured right now, if any at all.

I7 PEE Yellow screens

Apple knows about the problems and doesn't want to admit it to the public...

Apple is becoming a rotten company... lame tablet with no FLASH support, no camera, crippled... and they are having problems with quality control. I would sell my apple stock and not buy anything from them until they get their act together.

All my opinion...

Oh, please. If you don't like the features of the iPad, don't buy one. It's not as if it is some sort of life-saving device. I have no use for an iPad, so I won't be buying one.

I also have no use for an iPhone, and I haven't bought one. All I want from a cell phone is a really good phone with enough ear volume to be used outdoors and a screen that shows up brightly in sunlight. I don't give a damn about the availability of "140,000 apps."

But I do have a macbook pro and an iMac I7...

:D

Well I finally got my replacement quad, and No more flickers, No noisey hard drive BUT and it's big BUT...... the transfer from Timemachine f**ked up and now i've lost all my adobe software, and itunes too, not sure what happened but they won't open anymore. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:mad:, why is life so complicated??????
I'm hesitant to download iTunes again, I don't want it resetting to scratch and losing all my iphone aps, and library of music etc.
Any advice on what to do to get this stuff back???

so i'm having the same flickering problems with my week 3 21.5in base imac. today i had my first encounter with the auto scrolling. magic mouse was scrolling without my hand even being on it. luckily i dont have the yellowing issue. so my question is this....

i bought this refurbished imac from apple online and can take it to a local store for a replacement which would be brand new. but i dont have the yellowing issue. i have the flickering issue but only when its at 1,2,or 3 brightness. i usually have it set pretty high so i dont really notice it.

so would you take it in to get a brand new one before the 14 days are up? or would you just keep it since it doesnt seem to have the yellowing issue? also getting a brand new one when i paid for a refurbished doesnt hurt either.

At the end of the day, it is up to you. But I'd change it personally. You didn't pay to have a flickering screen.

Isn't there a firmware update for the flickering though? Did that not work for you?

All of a sudden I don't feel like buying the new iMac anymore. This video scares the crap out of me. I really hope it isn't widespread! :(

Dont worry just buy the 21.5 inch. The problem is'nt really a problem. This has never happened to me and I had mine since June. You dont have to use the stupid 'sleep' setting. Just leave your screen on full brightness all the time. No screen saver , no bs. When your done...turn it off. Viola problem solved.
