The new iPad 10.2 is the 7th gen iPad? So it’s the iPad 7?

Does anyone know if it supports Fast Charge? So if I get a lightning cable that can plug into a USB-C port, and then plug that cable into a iPad 10.2 too, the iPad will charge a lot faster than if I plug the iPad into a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port?

Just trying to keep all that stupid standards straight.

I would have bought an iPad Air 3 when it came out earlier this year. But everyone thought it did not support Fast Charge. Then I stopped paying attention. And later I found out like a week later somebody noticed some Apple charger support charging the iPad Air 3 at Fast Charge speeds... But by the time I heard about that, this new iPad was coming out..l

Also, it’s my understanding that the iPad Pro 10.5 that you can get for $469 does not support Fast Charge?
[doublepost=1568250336][/doublepost]I realize I went off into a few different question in that OP.

But the main thing I’m interested in is if the new iPad 10.2 supports Fast Charge?

The 10.5 Pro certainly supports fast charge. The new Mini 5 supports it so it would be very odd if the new 10.2 didn't.

Its just annoying that the 9.7 Pro didn't support fast charge given that it came out after the original 12.9 that did.

iPad 5th Generation takes 7 hours to charge probably this will take similar time so no it does not support fast charge

Thank you Duncan. Your post makes sense.

When the iPad Air 3 came out, the major feature I was looking for was a Fast Charge. And everybody was talking about buying an iPad Pro 10.5 instead of the iPad Air 3. I looked heavily into both and everybody thought both of them did not support Fast Charge. It seems like people have learned a lot more about Fast Charge since the iPad Air 3 came out.

It is disappointing it’s such a pain to figure out something so simple. I think the reason it’s ended up being confusing it’s Apple’s trying to make it invisible for people who don’t know what’s going on. Like they want clueless people to be able to use the same cable they’ve always used without being confused by any information about Fast Charge speeds, etc. But then people who do know what’s going on, it makes it harder for them to find out what’s going on because Apple has decided not to publish the info on the specs.

That’s not the only reason Apple’s USB strategy is convoluted. But I imagine it’s part of it.
