Obviously as long as they have lightning port... I dont listen to headphones too often actually... and most of the time I listen to music on the ipad pro 12.9 I like having it out loud because the speakers on that thing are amazing! But when I travel on planes etc, and dont want to carry numerous headphones for different devices... will the ones that come with the new iphone 7 also work on older devices that have the regular headphone jack? I mean, will the lightning port on the ipad pro recognize the new headphones so I could just bring the one set??

In the Apple Store app, it says that the new EarPods works with all the devices with a lightning port !

Yes. They work on any Lightning device that can run iOS 10.

There is no 3.5mm adapter for them yet, nor is there any other kind of adapter like USB-C or Thunderbolt for a Mac.

So, you won't be able to use the Lightning headphones with any other device that does not have a Lightning port, nor can run iOS 10.

Your best bet is to use your old 3.5mm EarPods with the 3.5mm to Lightning adapter. That way they will work with your iPhone 7, and anything else you need to use them with.

Apple really didn't think this one through very well ...

Accidentally ordered a pair of the lightning ones for my SE. They work fine under ios10. If you plug them into ios9, they give you an unsupported accessory error, which is funny, because folks were using Lightning headphones with ios9.....
