Got tired of the mac rumor schmucks with the "The new Mac mini is almost certainly coming" thing.

Please post here because the title of this thread is more accurate.

Hate to see what the mac pro thread is trending. Those guys get really upset.

It's best just not to go into the Mac Pro forum right now. Pretty ugly. Needless to say, I think most are switching away from the Mac platform now if they haven't already. Mac Pro at least had one unconfirmed source in the UK claiming new Mac Pros by the end of November, but I haven't heard any information at all about the mini, which is a real shame too.

Apple just needs to admit that they no longer give a damn about their Mac computers as they are all about their iPhones. One day that will bite them in the butt. And all those Retail Stores will become anchors as it drags down the company. I've been around the tech business since the early 80's and have seen this story play out many times, with companies like Burroughs, NCR, Wang Labs, Digital Equipment, Apple (part one), Telex just to name a few.

They need to cater to what they were once known for which is computers. Now all they really care about is the iPhone. The iPad, Mac computers and the rest of their lineup has taken a backseat to the iPhone. That's the only product line that sees a yearly release anymore.

An amazingly sad announcement from Apple today. Minor improvements with major price increases. My 2012 mini might be the last decent mini that they'll ever manufacture. I'd love to purchase a new mini with a slew of updates but apparently the focus on phones and cars has diminished Apple's ability to create amazing computers.

Someone needs to tell Tim and Jony that some of their customers want things that help improve what we do at work and in our lives. New connectors and magic function keys are little more than lipstick on a pig.

Apple has become nothing more than the Pretty Shiny Objects Show. If you go into every Apple event thinking this, you will never be disappointed.

In the meantime, I will continue to use my wonderful 2011 mini until death. When it dies, I'll likely replace with a Windows system, because the decisions Apple makes when it comes to the Mac division is infuriating.

Major bummer no new Mac HW. I prefer using my external IBM Keyboard and Logitech Trackball, not to mention my own speakers and displays with my trusty Mac Mini. Sure you can kind of approximate that with a “docked” setup now with the new MBP, but a mac should be under $600, not $2k. Kind of interesting today no TV Display, No Apple 5K Monitor, Quasi Apple TV Service, No new iMacs - they are ignoring all stationary PCs. I guess I will look again at building a Hackintosh. And maybe they will make a new Apple Bluetooth keyboard with TouchBar, don't hold your breadth there.

My first post - I've been waiting for quite a while, as you guys have, for this mac mini refresh and checking macrumours and apple nearly daily for some change or news. Really, more than 2 years and not a peep? I'd say the product is done. Screw X-code, it's either a Windows machine or System76 now. Good grief.

It is so sad that someone at Apple cannot manage to take 15 GD minutes out of their day to give us some straight info. Pathetic. I am all in on Windows. And liking the machine in my sig just fine.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, if we see a new Mac mini in early 2017, and that's a big IF, it'll probably have the same specs as the low-end MacBook Pro 13". The Core i5-6360U, which is the one in that MacBook Pro, was released in September 2015, so it's already a year old, which means that a "new" Mac mini would be 1.5 years old by the time it comes out (IF):(

Apple panicked when they saw the Microsoft Surface Studio. That is the game changer such that Apple is now playing catch up. You can't release a new Mini without an iMac and the 2016 iMac was cancelled at the last minute.

You know, you might be onto something. I can see Apple panicking when they saw the Microsoft Surface Studio. There is speculation that part of the reason Apple did not release any desktop updates is due to Intel and that Apple is eventually going to move to ARM for everything in due time.

Wait and see but the waiting is getting a little long.

Here's to me hoping my MMini 2012 lasts a few more years.
I'm writing this on a 2012 2.3 quad mini that I just reloaded with Sierra. All three of my Macs are 2012 models for the obvious reasons. My newest "Mac" that took over from my 2012 Mac Pro 6-core is an HP Z230. That is the direction I am headed in, real computers, real keyboards and Windows 10.

The little Mac mini will be missed as the perfect Mac for a HTPC, low-power server, or switching from Windows. But at this point I agree it's dead. Not even a rumor of an impending refresh, which the Mac Pro at least has. What a shame.

I spend 95% of my time in Windows 10 and the rest between Linux and hacked Sierra on my custom build. Windows 10 is much more efficient, faster and flexible for any software or hardware a person wants to use.

With all of the mac pro complaints, i found that my maco pro 2013 screams with the latest final cut pro x today. Seems being a beta tester paid off. All of my issues so far have resolved and it is running and processing fast. Apple may not have updated the hardware, but instead the updated the software to run more effectively on the ''old' tech was a plus today and very surprising for a hardware gloomy day!

More nonsense straight out of your backside.

I posted this over in the Mac Pro forum but it's worth repeating here:

Have you seen the latest version of the Mac page on the Apple website?

http://www.apple.com/mac/

Scroll the page down. MacBook Pro, MacBook, iMac. That's it. No mention whatsoever of the MacBook Air, Mac Mini or Mac Pro – it's as if they don't exist. They will still sell you them via the links to the store at the top of the page, of course, but that's clearly the end of the line for those machines. They are dead.
