Hi all,

I was just reading up on FileVault 2, and came across comments that you get poorer than normal write speed if your SSD has a sandforce controller (about half the expected write speed)

I then remembered the iFixIt tear down, and the fact the new MBA has a Sandforce controller :-(

Can someone with a new Air run benchmarks and see if the sandforce issue still remains?

Thanks! Am looking forward to my new MBA, but it's a few weeks away from purchase.

The optimist in me just thought: well it's Apples machine and OS, it would be embarrassing for them to have such an issue, it was excusable with third party hardware, but not when being used as their choice.

Waiting on benchmarks to see!

Good news! Even with FileVault on the new machines read and write at around 420-450MB/sec. So looks like there's no issue here
