I’ve seen several leaks about Apple formulating Beats true wireless buds with Siri, waterproofing and sans q-tip design. Just purchased AirPods and wondering if I’m going to kick myself in a few weeks/months if these come out as I would love waterproof AirPods. Has Apple ever released back to back upgrades? Will these likely drop closer to 2020? I know it’s all speculation but just curious if anyone else was thinking about this.

Yes! The Powerbeats Pro. Seems to be next iteration of AirPods. I guess it could be a different product line but I wouldn’t have to worry about getting caught in the rain.

I wouldn't call it a "next iteration" of the airpods. It's a different product for a slightly different set of users. Anyway, I haven't heard of a release date yet for these. Good luck with your decision.

It’s difficult to say really what Apple has in plans for the next version of the AirPods. Realistically, I would still say they will retain the same design, added water resistance, and improve the sound greatly even over the ones they just currently released. The big question is when, and I would think at least not until mid 2020 for the next major overhaul for the AirPods.

Here’s what I expect for the next iteration:

Water resistance.
6 hours music listening time (I’d love 8 hours with 4 hours talk)
Improved sound.
Increased case charging capacity.
Multipoint pairing.
Increased range.

I don’t see matte black as white is apples signature color. After that there’s not much more you can do but keep improving the points i just listed.

Well after another run this morning with my new AirPods I’m sure I’ll probably end up with both. I absolutely love using Siri to control my music and volume without taking gloves off or fooling with my watch. I just wish they were water resistant so I didn’t have to worry.
