The new trend for apps like iCal and Address Book

It seems like Apple is moving towards a particular style for their apps. iCal and Address book are probably just the beginning. What do you think of the new trend?

The only thing I don't like about the latest iCal is the fact that days in month view can't be highlighted in any way whatsoever.

as long as they keep updating more, i don't like a design thats all over the place. and iTunes needs full screen too, its the only app besides safari that i'd actually have use for it
