I may be new, but I've seen a ton of people asking what the typical battery life is supposed to be on their MacBook or MacBook Pro. So, I have a suggestion...

    Follow these steps:
    1. Charge your laptops to 100% & Set the power management to "Better Energy Savings"
    2. Dim the backlight to 1 bar (1 above black)
    3. Turn your keyboard backlight off (if applicable) & turn bluetooth off
    4. Close all of your programs except for Safari (make sure you have an internet connection)
    5. Check the updated time left on your battery
    6. Post it here, along with how many cycles you have put on your battery (if you have that information) and how long you have had your computer.
    7. Compare the results.

    Here are my results...

My 2.4 ghz MBP is about one month old and has 25 cycles on it, after the time remaining bounced around for the first 5 minutes or so (it hit up to 5:12), it ended up settling on 4:48 remaining

Peaked at 5:11. Looks like 4:49 is where it's at though.

I think something is wrong with my battery.

The health has dropped almost 40% over a month.

Followed the instructions the OP posted.

Got 1:55 on a full charge. I just did a calibration of the battery. Guess I'll be calling Apple later today :(

Chances are my question has been answered and rather than looking through pages of results I will bump this instead.

Does one need to calibrate the battery for his or her Macbook Pro if it were obtained through Apple's Refurb section?
