Smudges, smudges everywhere :(

The oleophobic Coating from the factory is naturally organic and will dissipate over time with usage and cleaning the display. Your option is to purchase a third-party kit which is available off Amazon that you can reapply yourself (or) you can take it to a third-party repair store which also applies oleophobic coatings.

Your best option is to use a GOOD tempered glass screen protector (seriously, you will not notice a good one) and then you can replace at will when the coating on that becomes worn, and know that the phone underneath is intact.

I think if you do an Amazon kit, you're just asking for trouble. Would not do personally.

I use one of the curved Glass protectors (edge to edge) and a case with no lip. There is no space around the display like you get with the case friendly glass protectors.
Because the glass protectors I use are edge to edge via rounded corners, and because my case has no lip, it feels as though I am using my X without any glass protector. At least in my opinion.

Do not use anything alcohol based to clean display. That removes coating quickly.

Excellent point. And you’re correct. Products like Whoosh or Screen clean are great products for smart phone displays that won’t affect the display or remove the oleophobic coating.

Thank you for this. I hadn't heard of Whoosh, and after reading your post, I bought it. Too late for my X, but I'll definitely use it for the X Plus. :)
