My Power Mac G4 seems now to be only capable in booting OS X DVDs, and none other. I have tried 6 different CD/DVDs other than my OS X installs and none work.

I only ever get to a blank white screen on all of my install disks, which it surely isn't possible to be coincidence that all 6 are broken, so that is why I burnt and tried another.

Just to point out, the installs I have tried are all Linux, and all different versions/distros. I have tried the three latest versions of Ubuntu, two latest Kubuntu and Fedora 11 Alpha release.

Yes I have also checked that they are the PPC version of the distro.

This is really starting to bug me, as I really want to install a Linux distro on my spare HD.

Any help appreciated!

Looked at the second link you suggested and found a possible solution:
The Power Mac G4 Sawtooth Open Firmware only has rudimentary support for Linux and cannot boot Linux CD’s by holding down C or holding down option. Rather you will need to direct OF to the Linux InstallCD’s yaboot file:

boot cd:,\install\yaboot

But now my disk drive has packed in, so I will try it out when I get a new one.

And FYI I googled my ass off for about 5 hours!!
