Is there a way for me to customize the order in which things load on my iMac?

I need for the internet connection to load before pretty much everything else...

As long as your router/modem is powered on and connected to the Internet before you switch on your iMac, the internet will be loaded at startup.

Note that your Mac must be connected via Ethernet, not wi-fi.

The internet is active with the EFI, because that's how Internet Recovery works.
