This is the first time I have been pissed off at Apple enough to post my frustrations! They knew this was the first year those customers who signed up for their upgrade program. They also know that a large portion of their loyal customers opt out of pre-orders and stand in line, in thousands of stores across the world. The customers who are entitled for an upgrade expressed outrage because they could not practice their entitlement for at least 2months. To make it right with them they used the devices that were set aside for launch day and then claim the demand for the new phone is so overwhelming the biggest one ever so 98% of any store including Apple will not have the most desired phone. I bet before all the calls started coming in there were plenty of phones for those who camped out. Instead, i am bitchin about them on my 6s plus. Someone should be fired

I've got to ask. Honestly, why would you waste vacation time just to get a phone on day one? I'm dying for the series two watch and AirPods, but I'm just holding off for a few weeks (and into October for the AirPods) but I'd never squander paid time off waiting for a product of any type.

I'm thinking since Angela Ahrndt(sp) has stated she doesn't care for the lines at stores on launch days, that it wasn't only the iup customers cutting into launch day walk-ins.

More than likely Apple decided to use those phones to appease ALL preorders since they obviously have a larger shortage than in previous years.

You are ticked off at Apple and then you purchase a 6s+?

Me personally, I am going to decide in the next week or so whether to cancel my 7+/256G black that's supposed to ship in early Oct. Just going to live with my 6+ which still works great.

Cause it is my thing, I start talking about the "new iPhone" and the launch months before it happens, I eagerly look for leaks, rumors and then on the day of the announcement I put in for a vacation request for launch day. It is my thing, keep judging, and keep telling strangers things that are important to them should not be important to them.

Good luck to you.

This is no different from people who take sick days for new game releases. Everybody has their own interests.

Sorry you couldn't get what you wanted.

More importantly, why waste a vacation day when they told you ahead of time that they wouldn't have them?
Actually I missed that part and it also said at Apple Stores. I have been at every launch and have never ever seen the device not available for the first person in line

The 6s+ was her phone. Not a new purchase.

The 300% increase in pre-orders from Tmobile and AT&T weren't a clear reason in you mind as to why there is no stock?

FYI, posting on an internet forum is by definition inviting opinions from strangers, you should have just stated this into a mirror if you didn't want feedback.

You like to stand in line. Cool, that's a choice. Fair play to you - but we all know it's still a gamble....

As anyone that stands in line knows, there are no guarantees. Equally to everyone that pre-orders, you know there's no guarantees. Likewise going either route through a carrier or third party retailer.....

Everyone knows that demand will always outstrip supply. Many of us have been disappointed many times - it's disappointing, but not the end of the world.

Apple now have 90 different SKUs and launch to more countries at the same time than in the past. That's a heck of a lot of variations for a heck of a lot of customers - however you dice it.

Until Apple launched pre-orders they weren't sure what the most popular variants were going to be. Sure, they could make educated guesses - but that was it.

It's impossible with such a complicated supply chain and 90 SKU variations to meet all of day one demands - or even week one - in a sustainable business model.

The best chance you would have had was to pre-order. You could have still gone down and queued if you'd liked. Of course, there would have been no guarantee that your pre-order would definitely have been scheduled for pick-up today - but as we all know, whatever you choose to do there is always a gamble to be made for a launch of an iPhone.....

They did say they were not going to have any plus size devices for walk-ins like 2 days ago.
Sadly, I ran across several people at the mall where the Apple Store is that had't heard a word. I bit my tongue and wondered if they were living under a rock.

I already have an active October 4-10 pre-order, so I just checked out a few stores for the heck of it. No 7 Pluses anywhere near Albany, NY.

Regardless of who thinks its a waste of time or not to go on launch day its completely aside the point(focus here, no one asked if you'd do the same). I think and agree with the OP that what apple did is unethical. They basically took all the inventory from stores and gave it to the AUP peeps. I don't think is right for AUP to be without phones but also don't think its fair for campers, first day addicts or whatever you may call them, to be without phones because of apple's screw ups.

This will soon be water under the bridge but this is how companies burn bridges themselves with loyal customers. I'm sure that class action lawsuit against apple from their beloved AUP members had a lot to do. Once more proving that unless there are serious consequences, some of us will get screwed. So much for loyalty.

I share your pain OP but again, don't expect many to do the same. Forums are a good place for @@#wipes to oppose anything posted. Its amazing how you post one thing and immediately you have ten idiots trying to change your mind or telling you how your feelings are wrong.

Well, someone has to say it: First World Problems.

I know how disappointing it is when something brings you such joy and you look forward to it for months and then it doesn't work out, but try to think about all the things that you already have that most of the people of this planet can only dream of.

That is exactly where I felt like I was (under a rock) when I read the awesome news the Apple stores would not have 7+'s
