Aside from cheap Chinese trinkets are there any other products that ship with a device that requires charging without a means to do so in the products box?

Not a problem for the vast majority just something that you made me think about.
 
It would be awesome if Apple put it there for future peripheral options... like a webcam for FaceTime videos.

Umm, excuse me, but WTH are you even trying to argue? The USB-C port is already there. It's been there since the fourth-gen AppleTV launched. It would only require a software update to enable compatibility with external peripherals.
