MagSafe has little relevance in an era when you can go twelve hours without charging your laptop. We just don't need to plug and unplug these things as much as we did before. I'd rather keep the ability to charge with any USB-C charger and go about my day without lugging around a heavy, $90 MagSafe(tm) charging brick for my ultrabook.

Neither has a 100% record and what we see more and more is different people working off the same tip to magnify a false rumor. But sure, treat their guesses as fact. Time will tell.
Gurman never normally reports things unless he’s sure but will see yes

Does USB C still have durability issues? Like loosening of the port. I have an mbp 2017 and would love to have the magSafe back. My mbp has loose ports because of how often I have to plug/unplug it when I need to join meetings.

Yes, it still does. This is partly why I would welcome MagSafe back with open arms. USB-C does not have great durability, IMHO, and the port can be much more easily damaged than MagSafe. Hopefully future MagSafe, like the USB-C charging, separates the cable from the charge brick so that the cable can be replaced for cheap should it become damaged or worn.

I needed a spare MagSafe to restore my 2014 MacBook Pro from Time Machine so I went into my parts box where I have four of them and took it out and the restore is in progress. I would be so happy with the return to Magsafe, USB-A, SD card slot and HDMI port. Just like my Retina MacBook Pros.

Older people like nostalgia. Bring it all back baby.
