Has anyone heard of something like this?: My wife's iPhone 6s died 5 months ago. Tried reseting. Didn't work. It would not connect to iTunes. We took it to the Apple Store. They hooked up their diagnostic tools. They said it was dead. They offered a small discount on a replacement (it was past the one year warranty) but we decided just to keep it. My wife bought a new 7 plus.
Yesterday, I decided to pull the old 6s out of the drawer, and I pushed the home button, and when I did the 'connect to itunes' screen was on. I connected to my computer, the phone was recognized, I did a restore, and now it's working perfectly.
So, I have two questions: has anyone ever heard of an iPhone doing this kind of thing? Do you think it will be a reliable phone going forward?

Only you can tell us that, seeing as it's gone through some kind of miraculous resurrection.

Interesting to see how it goes over the next week.

I say keep it going. Squeeze as much out of it as possible :D

I agree. Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have an idea of what might have happened? WhT might have been wrong with it and why is it working now?

Moisture might have eventually vaporised from the circuits.

IIRC, 6S had a battery issue that has been covered by a recall. Doesn't affect all units, but that may be something worth looking into.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe that's it. I would have thought the Apple store would have caught that, though.

I don't think they actively test devices to check if your device falls under the specific serial number. What you can do is check online against the serial number and if it turns out to be within the range then go to the Apple Store and mention, hopefully they'll replace it.

Got it. Thanks.
