iPhone SE (2022) The SE3. My goodness.

it is funny how many YouTubers have said that iPhone 13 Mini proves how Apple can still innovate and that it was the best iPhone of the iPhone 13 series… yet it makes no commercial sense to offer a slightly more affordable iPhone that only a tiny percentage of users choose. Many of those influencers do go back to full-sized iPhones for the battery life regardless.
I do see iPhone 13 Mini more often than expected, but I also wonder if those people are picking it because they wanted a smaller iPhone or the most affordable current-generation iPhone.
I guess you mean the 5-year old iPhone 8, which has the same design as the SE2 and 3, right?
For me I wanted a small, light and charming iPhone. Cost wasn’t the deciding factor.
One difference is that they eliminated the iPhone 8’s useful 3D Touch. “Courage.” 🙄
This is understandable because most influencer types probably spend all day on their phone. In my experience the type of common-or-garden buyers who choose the mini tend to be light users for whom extended battery life is not a consideration đź‘Ť
Like OP, I recommended the SE 2022 to my mom who is looking to upgrade from her iPhone 7, simply because she is attached to the home button design. I'm sure a lot of people are in a similar situation when upgrading from the iPhone 6/6s/7/8 models.
In my case, I would prefer a modern design like the 13 mini. However, I’m not sure my eyes will feel comfortable with the OLED screen, and just because of this, I’m considering the SE3. Midnight, of course.
Sleek? That thing is outdated and a design from 5-7 years ago.
What can a guy with an iPhone 8 with a new battery and plenty of storage expect to get for $450 for an SE3?
I love my 8. But in preparing for the future I’m teetering between a 13 mini and SE3.
My 8 is flawless. Perfect. Pristine.
With a new battery I feel like I have a new phone. It can do everything (basic) any other phone can do.
I gave my 3 month old iphone 8 to my GF when i picked up my XR, because I wanted a bigger screen - i just got her a mini and she absolutely prefers the 8. Even over my SE. Some people just love that design, heck, she actually prefers her 2016 SE size and form factor even now. ..... the mini is growing on her though. For my money and case of usage, the SE and the mini are the best phones you can buy right now. Regardless of price. Her 8 still has over 80 percent battery and she abuses that thing.
Yes you are right. I said the "iPhone X but with home button" because I used the iPhone X which also had the rounded edge and I never had the 8. But actually it's just the iPhone 8.

The picture processing of SE3’s newer chip will destroy the 8. I am really impressed by the photos it takes.
Yes, I love the SE series, I’m using the 2020 one still, will get the next one when needed. Perfect phone at least in most areas.
ever seen a Samsung A53? It blows away the SE3 at all aspects, for the same price.
3 day battery life, better screen, 1TG microSD capable
(I use one for work - my daily driver is an iPhone 14 Pro which has upset me to no end)
And I can use Apple Music on it.
I tried to migrate to the XR from the 8 I am now holding. It was so heavy and bulky without a case that I could not imagine it with a case or battery case.
I am amazed how people are able to accept things I just cannot. Which is the very definition of freedom of choice.
1. Notch - it’s so unnatural and an eyesore. Jobs would never have allowed it.
2. Size beyond 4.7 - it saddens me to hear all the rumors of the 13 mini being the last of the small devices. What a terrible decision if this comes true.
3. FaceID - say what you will but I believe this is the most epic breach of privacy ever. Remember when thousands of random Alexa conversations popped up in people’s SMS and Email queues? Or Apples Ireland support center having Siri recordings of people having Zexx?You betcha your face pics are being saved somewhere. Many people don’t care. They accept that Zuckerberg FBM Hoovers all of your data explicitly saying so in the UA. People not sophisticated with technology are blind to the egregious reality of these super spyware devices we hold.
The greatest thing publicly that’s available to show the average person what these companies collect can be seen with the Microsoft Azure Sentinel agent. It literally sends every microscopic action detail you do on your PC to the cloud. It would blow your mind to see what Microsoft scrapes from every computer with Windows. It’s scary but impressively cool. Especially if you’re a desktop guy supporting winders. Having all that data is incredibly cool.
Anyhoo, I digress.
I held the 14 pro and the Mini the other day. Both are seriously beautiful. The SE3 is GOAT worthy.
My 8 is so perfect for me. I’m a one handed. I don’t like holding a tank.
I want to buy a Mini or a SE3 and just leave them in the drawer until I need them. Such a hard decision.
You gotta hand it to Apple. These devices really are reliable and sturdy. It blows my mind I bought this phone in 2017 and it’s still perfect. Flawless. Battery went down to 80%. Replaced it last week for $45 and I’m in heaven. No more battery case.

Yes to me it does. It seems to have better battery life than the SE2020 as I have had both. I would imagine the newer processor is helping manage the battery life better.
iPhone SE is a thing of beauty. Touch ID is superior to face ID. Bezels are fantastic for holding the phone.
SE in starlight with product red case is just so lovely that I'm saving it for when my 8 Plus dies (will it ever?). Just got a new battery for the 8 Plus, so I'm good for at least another 2 years.

The SE3 is a solid, reliable, very snappy and well built phone for sure with Touch ID and the notch less screen being its big advantages. Also for those with PWM sensitivity, this phone is perfect due to its LCD display. It gets hate from some MR members because of the older design, but this phone is not really designed for them anyway.
