The Sims 3 in Mavericks - Usage & Backup

Has anyone successfully used The Sims 3 in Mavericks?
Does it work as expected or are there any special steps to take?

How do you backup Expansion Packs? (I know how to backup game play data from the EA folder)
I have several but I do not know where the discs are and I am afraid of losing their content when I re-install.

I know an upgrade or restore would avoid these issues, but I feel like my MBP has acquired some gunk and I am considering a clean install and starting over.

Its graphics are glitching a lot here, but it's working. It was working just fine back in Snow Leopard. I simply copied the The Sims 3 Folder to another partition and copied the Eletronic Arts folder (/Users/%user%/Documents) to my new Documents folder and it's working.

I just purchased The Sim 3 last Friday and run just ok but it opens error message every time it exited The Sim 3.
