The Soda That's Driving Me Crazy

I have a problem that's been bugging me for a long time. Since the MR forums are a limitless repository of quirky information, I figured I could find an answer here.

When I was a littl(er) kid, there was a certain brand of soda/sweet drink that I used to love. The soda itself came in fruityish flavors, but the special part was the flavor bead-things that floated around. If you bit one of the bead things, they'd release flavor. There were often two or more colors in each bottle.

Does anyone remember what I'm talking about? What is the name of this drink? Where can I get some?

I drink a couple of these a day.
They're really good. But there is a stupid wire coil on the bottom. Just make sure someone is around to give you a heimlich.

We get rubbish soft drinks in the UK. I think the most exciting things to happen in the last 10 years were 'Tab clear' (see through coca-cola) and more recently Coffee Flavored Pepsi.

Mountain dew with it's 'EU' safe ultra low caffeine content was killed here several years ago.

Now I feel really ripped off. :mad:

We haven't even had those things. I would love Coffee Flavoured Pepsi.
 
Haha I loved orbitz. Still would probably, but haven't seen it in years.

The closes thing I've had to it recently is bubble (or boba) tea. Pretty good, and the goey beads are like 20x the size of the orbitz bubbles.

I could swear there was another brand of it too, but for the life of me cannot remember.

Coffee flavored? ICK! That has to be a joke?

But, I can't live without trying a new pop....so, nasty as it is, I'd *have* to get one if I saw it.

... are they soft drinks? I always classed anything non-alcoholic as a soft drink.
 
Yes I got excited when I heard about it too. Upon tasting, it turned out to be a bit of a dissapointment. The coffee part tasted like the really really cheap instant stuff, left a nasty after taste and seemed a bit 'flat' somehow.

I like bubble tea. Its actually very good.

Seriously though, am I the only one who can't stand carbonated drinks? They make my mouth dry for awhile and then they make me cry... ugh..

But orange soda... :cool:

Oi! cheapskate! Trying to fob me off with a glass that's clearly half empty. What is this fluid anyway? Looks an awful lot like the stuff I wash the dishes with ;)

I enjoy carbonated drinks sometimes in the same way I enjoy sweets or chocolate, as a treat.
 
Aha! It was Orbitz! I used to drink tons of that stuff! I'm kind of upset that I can't get any more. I think the coffee cola sounds interesting, though...

I don't like carbonated drinks, but where I live (in the US) there is a lot of limestone in the ground, and drinking tap water will eventually give you kidney stones. Lovely I know. So I drink bottled water or lemonade and carbonated when there's nothing else.

BTW, what do you call it where you live?

"Soda"? "Pop"? "Soda Pop"? "Coke"? "bubbles"? "Fizzy water"?

Everything is "coke" where I come from. Care to guess where that is?:rolleyes:

Texas?

Grew up in Buffalo, NY...it's pop there. Soda everywhere I've lived (currently in the Bay Area).

Edit: Here's the official MR thread on what people call it.
