3d movies are more of an event where you get the popcorn out. You would not watch one casually, but that does not classify it as a gimmick.

It gives me headache, the quality is terrible, etc.

What really grinds my gears is that every good tv is 3d. That means i have to pay for something i'll never use. I have 4 3d tvs in my house and i always watch 2d stuff. :mad:

Then it's a gimmick for you, fine. For other people, it's a nice feature. Watching the London Olympics in 3D was a very cool experience.

It would really need glasses-free technology to reach the mainstream though.
