Dear all

This is probably the stupidest question ever posted. I am new to Mac & I keep hearing about Tiger & Panther & have no idea which one I am running.

When I click on :apple: it tells me I use 10.4.10 is this tiger or panther or may be something else??

Thanks

Any Variant of Mac OS X 10.4.X is called Tiger. So you are running Tiger.
Mac OS X 10.3 was called Panther,10.2 was Jaguar, etc.:apple:

Any flavor of 10.4 (10.4.10 is the most recent version) is code-named Tiger.

Read more details on OS X here.

Mac OS X 10.0 (Cheetah)
Mac OS X 10.1 (Puma)
Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar)
Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)
Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Edit: Argh...just a millisecond too slow. :p

10.4 is known as Tiger. The latest update is .10, thus 10.4.10 (it's "ten", not "one zero").

10.3 was Panther, .2 Jaguar

don't worry, it isn't the stupidest question ever posted around here. not even the stupidest question of the week.
