The screen is starting to grow on me a bit but I'm still not a fan of the two tone back at all.

Horrible trash.
It's a few steps down from the 4.

I do not like it, but I wouldn't go this far... I hate that it is only stretched, and I dislike the two toned back

Thinner, bigger screen, non glass back, still an Apple product(so you know it'll look damn sexy)...what the hell were people expecting?

Go back a couple years and look at the comments/opinions on the iPhone 4 leaks...

Good point, but It was much hard to imagine what the iPhone 4 would look like and how it would feel in your hand. This is much easier to imagine. It is a slightly thinner + 0.5" taller version of my current phone.

Agreed, I will never appreciate the two tone back. I do not think 4" is enough of an increase, and I do not like the idea of 16:9 on the phone.

I have tried Android, but I just am not a fan. I played with the S3 the other day. I could tell how much it had improved over the S2 I used to have for my work phone, but I still just did not like the operating system.

I agree with this. I don't ever use cases on any of my phones, so I'm hopeful the two tone isn't as exaggerated as the leaks appear.

It's too...blocky, in my opinion. It definitely needs to be wider or SOMETHING.

People complained when the iPhone 4 came out it was too blocky feeling and looking.
This doesn't fix that; if anything, it makes it worse.

Liked it from the beginning. Not necessarily the longer screen...but the casing.

Yet they all bought it anyway.

When this design turns out to be final. We're gonna see a lot of people go with Android and Windows Phone here.

I voted "Disliked it at first but then started to like it" mainly because of the black version. It more appealing to me than the white version. I do agree with calidude though, I believe theres gonna be a lot of disappointed people out if it all turns out to be the leaked device.

Yeah right. The iPhone 5Gun-metal is the IT phone to get next month. Are you crazy? There are no gunmetal Androids or Windows phones.

If you don't have a Gun-metal, ...well you simply don't have a Gun-metal.

Okay? More people opted out of the iPhone for a different design and bigger screen as such.

Disappointed so much by new design. It's terrible.
The phone shouldn't have a big display
I'm try to explain why- on 3.5 inches it is easy to operate phone, when on 4 its rather hard - fingers don't get till the end of display(4 inches),even on 3.5 its little harder to manage icons on the display
maybe the overall maximum will be 3.8- but not bigger(phone should have proportional forms as Steve guided)
with 4 inch it looks like spade)))
I will not be surprised if in 2014 phone 6 would be even uglier than today " iphone 5".
Unconditional it will be better than the others(samsung etc) but the counter was lost.
Big audience of people will buy 4-4s further by discount(if certainly they don't need the big display)

I really like it and always have. The 16:9 ratio is perfect for a phone, notice almost all android handsets going with a QHD or 720p displays, which are all 16:9? I like the thought of the unibody and the new docking port. Plus LTE. Only faults may be battery life and I would have prefered a 4.3" screen with a curved back, but everything else seems good.

just bought an iPhone 4S as I don't like to wait for such forecasted marginal upgrade and poor design

Lol! Yeah, a few techys that frequent the macrumours boards and bitch about any rumors that come out!!!

The rest of the real world (and even the people who are bitching now if history repeats itself) will buy buy buy it and enjoy the crap out of it!!!

If that is the supposed design..then well..
I like it..
I don't love it as much as the current one..but it's looking to be a good phone.

I like it.

The iPhone 4 form factor is the most ideal shape and design, and already uses premium materials unlike competitive devices. Enhancing it to make it thinner, stronger, lighter and at the same time increasing screen size sounds really good to me.

People just have an automatic reflex to want something completely new and different each time. These devices will get better through an iterative process. The iPhone is not just going to take on a completely different shape and design just because people want something new.

That's something Samsung does, each year they use a different arbitrary theme. This year with the S3, it's all about the 'Nature' UI, with rippling ponds as the lock screen and a curvy form factor. These are just gimmicks, they are compromising the design of the device to fill this need that people want something 'new' for the sake of it.

If you want to try something that looks and feels very different, get an Android device.

I did !:)

I'm still on the fence whether to upgrade to this from my 4. I'm not excited about it or iOS 6 at all. As far as innovation goes, that's in Microsoft's court now. WP8 and MS's proposed ecosystem makes iOS look like the 5 year old OS it is.

Good for you! Why are you here?

Oh! I am so sorry oh wise and intelligently articulate one, I did not realize that owning a different company's phone precluded me from partaking of the conversations on a forum!!

God forbid if we had a forum where only all of the happy fluffy Mac bunnies sit together and nibble on the same rainbow coloured vegetation and nod in agreement with nothing to discuss other than how much we agree with each other!!

Someone should explain these new forum rules to me!!

Hmmmm....I missed the part where I said you shouldn't be here. Oh, because I didn't say it.

Guess you can't answer a simple question.
