Throwing yourself at hours and hours of work based solely on your determination of its ability to make you lots of money is like choosing a tiger as your workout partner for a triathlon.

Also, where does posting on a forum fit into your business model? Do you by chance have a book and 15 CDs I can buy to hear more?
I chose a tiger as my workout partner for the triathlon. One of us was in the triathlon and I'm still fat. This is golden advice that should be taken.

By my calculations, the OP is somewhere between 19 and 22.
Bingo.

Is it the generation now where they do not want to do a single job but they want lots of money? As the baby boomers of skid row die off, I assume these kids will take their places.

OP: I do not believe for even one second that you have yet been successful at anything other than selling a few things on MacRumors in the marketplace. Like someone said, I don't want to wake up when I am 60 and find out my life was nothing more than chasing a financial dream. In fact, I just assume kill myself today if I know that I'll be alone at 60.

If you sacrifice your family for money, you made a bad deal.

Agreed...I like that.

Happy ness does not come from your bank balance.

Agreed...I like that.

Get a good job.
Work many years.
Watch what you spend.
Invest your money wisely.

Agreed...I like that common sense!

Money is EVERYTHING!

Don't let these bleeding hearts (probably a bunch of Liberals...you know how they are!) put you off your goal.

Remember...with money you can buy love and a family.

Well, it can buy you love.

Well...it can buy you sex...and who needs that other stuff - it just drags you down.

And absent that...your money will bring warmth and companionship in your old age.

Go for it...at all costs.

So tell me, are you serious?!

It always amazes me that my heavy handed, laid on with a trowel, sledge hammer irony is misunderstood. And, just in case, I added a smilie.

No...I'm not serious...

Man Shrink, I'm glad to here that...I know how you are now. :D Will not fall for that in the future.

OP, your post of several paragraphs doesn't mention "customer."

It may sound puerile, but without that person as your focus, you will not succeed as an entrepreneur.

Actually wrong... I'm 18 and have much more business experience than the average college grad IMO.

Even better.

Crazy that you're 18 and already determined to make millions. Hopefully, you succeed in your goals and don't burn yourself, and everyone who knows you, out trying. Hopefully it really is about doing something you want to do, and not just trying to attain money. Gaining millions of dollars might sound awesome, but it's actually pretty low on my list. I'd make a pretty crappy millionaire if people were expecting me to be all lavish and stuff.

Whatever you do, don't become like the guy I quoted in my original post. The guy who gets off on "hiring and firing" and "crushing the competition". That's a sad and pathetic existence, unless you actually enjoy making other people miserable.

Ahh so 2 summers > than the average college grad. Got it
Actually, I would think that's a pretty safe bet. The average college grad knows nothing about running a business. At least none of the recent grads I've ever hired ever have any clue as to how any business actually works short of perhaps collecting a paycheck.

MICHAELSD, what is your end goal? Much like samiwas's post points out, what do you ultimately want to accomplish? Is the goal to simply reach a certain number in the bank account, is it that you want to achieve a certain lifestyle, or are you after a sense of satisfaction that you think comes with having achieved materialistic success? I'm just curious as to what you hope monetary and business success will bring to your life?

The ability to live comfortably and build bigger businesses off of my starting point that actually do change the world. Comfortably enough to own a lavish home and Ferrari? I'd hope so but if be pretty happy making a living off of being an entrepreneur.

OP, maybe just update the thread in 10 years and tell us either how amazingly successful you are, or post some pics of your kids. Or, maybe both? (or neither!)

Challenge accepted.

10 years is too soon for me to have kids. Could definitely change my mind but I was planning on waiting until my forties to have kids.
