The true cost of an iPhone X

Assuming you order the 256 GB iPhone X at $1149, throw in AppleCare for $269, a A solid case for $50, and a wireless charger for $60, you are looking at minimum $1500.00. So the $999 price tag is simply a starting point.
 
Yeah.
But, there is iPhone 8 series.
And, iPhone X is not a must for many people nonetheless. For those who don’t need it, the cost is 0. 😉

256gb - optional (iCloud + 64gb is adequate for 99% of people)
applecare - optional
solid case - $15 on amazon
wireless charger - optional

Some people spend their extra money on Starbucks, cigarettes, or alcohol. You don't see people complaining or being snarky to them. A buck or two a day for a phone is affordable in comparison to many peoples spending habits.
 
AC+ is $199

My actual total for the 256gb with AC+ after taxes was $1428.23

My cats vet bill this weekend....$1700 =|

Pro tip, don’t put Lilly’s in your house if you have cats.
 
That’s the true cost of an iPhone X with Applecare, an expensive case and wireless charger.

I got my X for $999, case for $9.99. Not doing Applecare and already had a wireless charger.
 
Only additional cost for me in addition to the 1149 256GB model was a 39 dollar case.

I didn't get nor do i need to get all the accessories you mentioned.

I think everyone is fully aware that tax comes along with buying the phone everything else is optional. Personally, I’m not buying a wireless charger until the Apple one comes out. There is no reason to buy one now and one in a few months for me personally.

What happened to your cat? Now seriously I never paid so much for the vet bills and I live in Europe. This is ridiculous.

I didn't take into account sales tax in other states. I reside in Oregon, we don't pay sales tax. So in other states with a sales tax the cost could reach upward of $1600 or $1650.

Not to mention you don't need a wireless charger so on a personal level I saved even more. lol
