I only can do backup wirelessly after putting the passcode to trust this computer. My music isn't syncing.
Then it’s iOS and iPadOS 16.1 issue.I am not sure if this is a Ventura problem. For me the sync/password problem happened first after upgrading my phone to 16.1 (Mac was still running Monterey).
This is a known change in iOS 16.1. iMazing, a third-party iOS backup automation tool for macOS and Windows, discusses this iOS change in the release notes.
From Apple, the only official documentation that I've seen is the iOS 16.1 Security Updates list, which notes that CVE-2022-32929 allowed an app to "access iOS backups." The resolution listed is: "A permissions issue was addressed with additional restrictions." That might be the same thing, or not.
That’s incorrect. Apple intends that a trusted device will maintain its trust status unless a manual reset is performed. So, this is a bug.
Thank you for that information but it seems to be outdated for 16.1That’s incorrect. Apple intends that a trusted device will maintain its trust status unless a manual reset is performed. So, this is a bug.

The only change is with backups. iOS 16.1+ requires the user to interactively confirm every time a non-iCloud backup begins by entering their password on the device.
- Trusted computers can sync with your device, create backups, and access your device's photos, videos, contacts, and other content. These computers remain trusted unless you change which computers you trust or erase your device.
Not for sync, just for backup. Both USB and Wi-Fi. It seems very intentional. Is this intentional?
So, everytime your devices are under the same wifi, all your devices will automatically sync and backup, which means you have to enter password again?

it may be a bug, and so... fixed in an OS update. either way, how far are you from your iphone? when i do this, i put in my 4-digit code, and all is well. no need to move backup to icloud...So now the only way to back up your iPhone automatically is to pay Apple a subscription for iCloud storage. They better fix this or it'll go down (for me at least) as the most scumbag move in corporate history.
Same issue. Also not clear if it is Ventura or iOS 16.1.My iPhones and iPads on iOS 16.1 went mad after I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Ventura. They are all synced to mac wirelessly, and everytime a sync is required, they ask for "trust this computer."
Usually, if you trust once, it will remember, but not on Ventura.

Contacted Apple via chat. It seems they have changed things and that this issue is intentional rather than accidental. Screensave of my chat attached. I expressed my frustration and asked that at least they allow users to choose whether or not to save a trusted computer. It would seem that the more people who raise this issue with them the more chance it will get amended or reversed.Same issue. Also not clear if it is Ventura or iOS 16.1.
