I thought the poll was pretty clear...for those of you voting on size of the phone, you're voting wrong..... the poll clearly show screen size preference.

In that case, I'd prefer a phone close to the current size, but with a 10" display.

i'm ignoring the people who think the current iPhone is perfect - cause they're not thinking ahead to what will inevitably be a larger screen next year

So, because something may inevitably change, their opinion doesn't count? Interesting way to read a poll asking for people's preferences.

It has also been statistically proven that the most sought after phone (in terms of purchases made) are ~4.5-4.7 inch phones. Coincidence? Maybe

…and yet, of the top 5 selling cell phones from this year, only 1 of them fits into that category (the HTC ONE with it's 4.7" screen), one is larger, and 3 of the 5 fall below.

My comments were regarding the possibility within reasonable means. I do not think that with similar dimensions, the iPhone could exceed a 4.8 or maybe 5 inch screen. They can shrink the bezels as much as possible on all sides, and take out the home button to put in a smaller, capacities button. That way they could certainly put a 4.8 inch screen in roughly the same build.

Yes. If there opinions change when the next iPhone comes out, then they clearly do not have preferences that are true to the representation of an "ideal" screen size. They are simply following what apple does and will accept the new screen size as their "ideal" screen size after it's release.

I'm sorry these were android phones from 2012, I am not sure what the results would be for this year as phones are more in the 5" range as of the last 3 months.

That's my point though. Many people would simply want the largest screen possible while keeping the phone roughly the same size it currently is.

In general, most people care far more about the phone size and not the screen it holds. Screen sizes all the same, most people would flock to the smaller phone/ phone sizes the same, people would take the larger screen. In the end, it's the size of the phone that matters more.

So their opinion doesn't matter because of assumptions you make. Got it.

I find it funny that you intentionally limit it to just Android phones after stating that you're using sales as proof of what size phone people want. I guess it's too difficult for you to believe that many people actually want a smaller phone that can easily fit into hands/ pockets and that it's not just because it's what Apple makes.

Correct

It is just because it's what apple makes. I'll try to use a generic example and choose a phone like the GS3 in saying that it was openly bought by everyone (men and women [women tend to have smaller pockets in their pants]) despite the size of the phone. Although I agree with your statement overall, I think that the difference between a 4.0 inch phone and a 4.7 inch phone (either in the moto x type design, or the GS3 type design) is negligible in terms of people "wanting a smaller phone that can easily fit into pockets".

My example of the preferable android phones was given because it is simply the only statistic I could remember (or heard of - to that degree of specification) on the topic. If you can find a stat. contrary to the one I mentioned my ears are all open but I'm sure both of us don't have time for that.
