So, in the past few years, I've found it interesting to post different game and graphics benchmarks related to newly-released versions of OS X. It's a fun activity for me, and some of you readers seem to enjoy it, too.

But, inevitably, every time I post a new benchmark, someone will ask "so, how does it perform in ultra settings?" Well, now, I thought I'd start a thread for just that. Mac gamers to post our own benchmarks in Ultra or Max settings. (Meaning max for the game). Also, since Macs have different screens and native resolutions, the only caveat I'd state would be this: include 1920 x 1080 in your benchmarks for this thread.

You can certainly post higher resolutions if you like, but make sure it's clear in your post. By the way, I'm using Steam's built-in framerate tool for Steam games, and the Count It app for non-steam games.

Ready? I'll go first.

Borderlands 2 - 26 fps

Borderlands the pre-sequel - 28 fps

Batman: Arkham City - AVG 35 fps

Bioshock Infinite - 16 fps

Counterstrike Global Offensive - 62 fps

Dead Island - 38 fps

Half-Life 2 Update - 138 fps

Left 4 Dead 2 - 85 fps

Metro 2033 Redux - 15 fps

Outlast - 29 fps

Shadow Warrior - 30 fps

Star Wars The Force Unleashed - 31 fps

Team Fortress 2 - 93 fps

Tomb Raider - 19.2 fps

Okay, now it's your turn. :)

Oops. it might help if I included the specs of my Mac.

I have a late 2012 21.5" iMac, 8 GB RAM, nVidia GT 650M 512MB GPU, 2.9GHz core i5.

I've also added the benchmark for Rage - 18 fps

And for Call of Duty 4 - 49 fps

Here's the only frame rate data I have, it's non-OS X so not entirely sure how helpful that is. I will delete the post if you do not think it contributes. All fps numbers here are averages.

Bioshock Infinite: 120fps (1920x1080, UltraDX11_DDOF setting). Command line benchmark.
Metro 2033 Redux: 37fps (1920x1080, Very High Quality, SSAA On, AF 16X, Motion Blur On, Very High Tessellation, PhysX On). Stand alone benchmark application.
Tomb Raider: 94fps (1920x1080, Ultimate preset, motion blur and screen effects on). In game benchmark.
Unigine Haven 4.0: 72fps, score of 1819 (Extreme preset, Direct3D11, 1600x900 8xAA windowed).

Observations: Metro 2033 seems to be capped much sooner than the other games here. Probably it ends up CPU bound? Perhaps we are using different benchmark settings.

Computer is running Windows 8 with Nvidia 368.22 drivers. Hardware is in signature, but the important parts are: GTX 780 Ti, i7-4770K, Corsair 16GB, Samsung 850 Pro 1TB.

Thanks, Spponman!

Do you think you could rerun Metro 2033 Redux with PhysX on and report the results? I ran mine with it on.

Also, do you run OS X on this same machine?

So, here are some benchmarks:

Tomb Raider (integrated benchmark): 104.3 FPS (Note: not comparable with Windows since OS X version doesn't offer all max settings)
Hitman: Absolution (integrated benchmark): 44.5 FPS (obviously capped @ 64FPS although Vsync was disabled...)
Heaven: 29.9 FPS
CS:GO (timedemo benchmark): 203 FPS

All games were set to maximum settings (no vsync) @ 2560x1440 resolution.
Benchmarks were done in El Capitan on my Skylake rig (i5-6600K, currently no OC) with GeForce GTX 780 (slightly OC'ed + Nvidia Web Drivers).

For comparison, Heaven Benchmark on the same machine in Win 10: 33.5 FPS (+12%)
More aggressive OC (maximum clock without increasing stock voltage) gives: 35.4 FPS (+ 5.6%)

I have updated my results table with a new pass at Metro 2033 Redux using the same settings, except PhysX switched to on.

I do not run OS X on this machine, sorry! I was thinking about trying to install it. If I do I'll post up some benchmarks.

I also liked Fl0r!an's idea of putting a simple benchmark in here, so I ran Unigine Heaven 4.0. I set it to the Extreme preset. Note that this is not a 1080p benchmark, but it should be easy to repeat because I just used a preset. Added these results to my original post.

Unless people stick to the original poster's rule this thread isn't of much use. What's the point of posting your games' frame rates if you're playing it in Windows and especially not on a Mac?! Also, I'd also insist that people post their results in 1920 x 1080 - it makes comparison so much more easier.

Ridiculous.

I think I did try to make that clear at the outset - that I am cool with you guys posting other resolutions, but to maintain relevance to the OP, do please post 1920 x 1080 as well.

Mac OS, too, if you run it.

Thanks, guys!

I am actually very surprised that the game is playable at this setting

F1 2016, Ultra High settings, 1920x1080 + SMAA + TAA, 4x AF = 34fps (good work on the port to Feral)

My machine is a 2014 iMac 5K (AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB).
