Same here! I've made a couple threads/posts about upgrading from iPad mini 2 to iPad Air 2 now or waiting for the air 3, people have said "why not look into the mini 4" but I'm quite tired of the screen size with the mini to be honest. I LOVED it at first, I thought it was absolutely perfect, I could easily hold the iPad in one hand to show something to someone, but really, is it worth the vast screen real estate and screen quality with the full size device? In my opinion, not so much. Really excited for 9.7" screen.

Oh one more thing, have you noticed that it just looks kinda silly in landscape? Like it's not really wide enough. maybe it's just me lol

And yeah I thought it was great for using it one handed, but I'd rather have more screen real estate. Plus the Air 2 (and 3) will get the split screen multitasking!
YES. I keep forgetting about that!! Then when I remember I will be upgrading to the device that supports it, it blows all the other awesome stuff out of the water lol

Yeah that's one of the reasons I want the full size ipad! Split screen multitasking is gonna be awesome!!!

Yeah I guess you could say that. xD We kept agreeing and agreeing and agreeing, same desires for the Air 3, coming from same device, etc, etc lol.

True! We both know the mini 2 amd it's shortcomings and want the new air 3 :)

Going back to Uni in a little under a month, tempted to get an iPad for the hour plus trip each way. iPad Air 3 won't be out until late October/early November though, right? By then Uni will basically be over, not sure if I can handle waiting for what is probably not a huge upgrade.

At this point, I believe the upgrade won't be that huge, so I went ahead and popped for an Air 2. I'm very pleased with the screen and performance. As many have said, if you keep waiting for the latest & greatest.....My original iPad went for 5 years...no wonder iPad sales are down..Life span is very good. My original now goes into the kitchen.

I tried to wait for the Air 3. But I've been missing having an iPad and decided to spring for a cheap Air 2. So far I'm loving it with the iOS 9 beta! It's only 16 GB so that may prove to be a problem down the line (hasn't so far). I'll still take a look at the Air 3, especially if I start feeling I need more storage. Some things that might get me to upgrade:
  • True stylus support. I would upgrade immediately if Apple added this to the iPad line.
  • Resolution bump. Would be nice but only if the RAM and processor are enough to keep up. Not keen on getting caught up in another iPad 3 situation.
  • Significantly lighter. I'm always holding my iPad so it can always stand to be lighter. It would probably have to be at least 15% lighter before I'd upgrade in the absence of one of these other features.

Oh, so YOU'RE then one that Apple is listening to. I sometimes wonder if Apple were to make the iPad as light as the iPhone that there would still be people clamoring to make the iPad lighter.

  • Resolution bump. Would be nice but only if the RAM and processor are enough to keep up. Not keen on getting caught up in another iPad 3 situation. I think the current resolution is great, but I'm not sure if there would be a noticeable difference.

I think that is a sacrifice that you have to make if you go fo the larger iPad rather than the Mini. I still think that the weight of the Air is great.

See comments in bold.

i'm likely getting the ipad mini 4 i reckon.

been tempted by the ipad mini 3 but feel i should wait

I've been on the Air 2 almost since its release. I've had all models except the original iPad and gotta say, I really love the Air 2. That said, if the Air 3 proves to be a significant upgrade, I'm in!

I've got a large family (6 kids) and I enjoy watching everybody getting an upgrade through the trickle down. Every time me or the wife upgrades, the kids benefit. I also have 3 Samsung tablets too, but those are junk devices to me. Each new iPad pushes a Samsung tablet into the "for the grandkids" category.

hey my fellow iPad users! Who else is gonna upgrade to the Air 3 this year?! I will be upgrading to the Air 3 from my iPad Mini 2. I am looking forward to a new faster CPU, more RAM (I'd be happy if they kept the 2 gigs, but it would be nice to have more) and the bigger screen :)

So, what tablet will you be upgrading from? And what are you looking forward to on the Air 3?

I will be upgrade to Air 3 from Air 1 for the sake of new iOS 9 features like Split View. :(
