Apple Vision Pro users can now watch "The Weeknd: Open Hearts," a new immersive music experience that features Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd. Filmed in ultra-high resolution 180-degree Apple Immersive Video with Spatial Audio, the music experience is designed to put viewers in the center of the action, according to Apple.

Open Hearts invites viewers to journey alongside The Weeknd as he walks through a surreal cityscape inspired by downtown Los Angeles. Apple vice president of Marketing Communications Tor Myhren said that Open Hearts is a leap forward in the intersection between music and technology.
Apple Immersive Video brings The Weeknd's creative vision to life in an entirely new way with Open Hearts, a groundbreaking music experience available only on Apple Vision Pro. With Vision Pro, fans experience storytelling in ways that were not possible before: with immersive visuals and Spatial Audio that make them feel like they're right in the middle of the action. This is an exciting leap forward in how music and technology come together to deliver memorable experiences for fans, and we're proud to collaborate with The Weeknd to make it happen.
With Open Hearts, The Weeknd is promoting his upcoming album "Hurry Up Tomorrow." Apple customers without a Vision Pro who want to watch Open Hearts can visit an Apple retail store.

Open Hearts is available for free through the Apple TV app on Vision Pro. The music experience will be followed by Concert for One, another immersive music experience, on November 22. Concert for One will feature intimate performances with the world's biggest artists, kicking off with singer-songwriter RAYE.

Very interesting seeing the creative approaches to this medium. A totally different take. The Vision Pro is evolving now as a platform. Definitely not your flat video. Not my type of music but evokes my attention. Looking forward to how music presentations develops.

So wait. Is it a developer preview of Magical And Amazing™ new spatial paradigms, made for SRS BSNS ONLY, like super important doctors operating on members of the wheel heeled classes, or is it a $3500 consumer content consumption beer funnel, ready made to isolate the doughy and easily amused in a wrap-around presentation of joyless banging on a can like The Weekend, voted 4th least interesting band that no one asked for?

I look forward to the inevitable Ted Talks by the AVP cognoscenti. I shall endeavor to imagine the fanciful richness of those arguments rendered spatially.

Dear God.

What should humanity be enjoying that meets your approval? We await your crafty response.

The Weeknd is an amazing artist in his own right, and I'm proud to share his Canadian 🇨🇦 heritage. 😃

If the AVP (I still read that as "Alien vs Predator" every time) were $500, I would absolutely buy one. Paying $3500 to watch VR videos reminds me of paying $20 for five minutes in a VR arcade machine in the late 90s.
People spend 3x or 4x more than that for a good Home Theater that doesn't compare to the AVP.
My iPad Pro was over $2K, the AVP was more money and more useful to me.
And $3500 is not what it used to be in the late 90s.

My real use-case for AVP is a big screen for my MBP. When I first started using it, I felt I wasn't getting enough screen that I had dreamed of, but now that I am using it more regularly, I'm loving it! I am really looking forward to the wide and and the ultra wide when it comes out of beta. The ability to work on a large screen monitor that is not physically restricted to a room or desk or what not, but can be taken with me to airplane, hotel or backyard is what makes it worth $3500.
Being able to enjoy older panorama photos in an immersive mode is really special for me; panoramas were really not that big a deal until I got an AVP. Although the panoramas don't have that 3D effect of spatial photos or videos, the surround affect is pretty immersive!
The consumptive stuff (watching conventional movies & videos and the odd video game) is secondary to the above, but it is a rich experience and I have no regrets.
Yeah, $3500 is high, but Apple really engineered this nicely; this tech can't come for free, and it needs to be useful for the consumer; for me, I love it, for others, maybe less so but I have no regrets.

The 3D stuff is pretty cool (like the Weeknd's Music video), but I suspect it is being produced to heighten curiosity for the fence-sitters and get more butts in the demo chair to check out the AVP. More people in, the more Apple will be compelled to build the next gen devices.

If you live near an Apple Store and haven't done a demo, do it just to experience it for yourself. When I did mine, there was no pressure to sell, just a "I hope you liked the demo, do you have any questions". I felt almost like I had to beg to buy the AVP! ;-p

Not sure the Venn diagram overlap between rabid fans of The W. and those able to spend $3.5k on headset is that large. If my daughter said, "Buy a AVP so I can watch this"... Yeah. But, if it is a celebrity promo brought into Tim's strategy meeting for a thumbs up, I think we know how that will go.

Dear God.
It is what every owner wants it to be.
If it's not for you, just move onto something that catches your interest. We already get enough negativity from those who don't like it, yet wouldn't stop commenting about it. Kind of contradicting behavior... oh well...

First, people complain there's not enough content, but when new content arrives there's still a complaint about being a celebrity promo or someone nobody likes. If Apple released content featuring Pink Floyd or Def Leppard, there will still be people complaining no matter what.
I haven't heard this artist, there's a chance I may not like his music, but I may watch the video at least once to see what it's all about.

Fine, the orchestra. Sheesh.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Th Wknd singing band person, and on the AVP, but Canada is one of my favorite countries to visit and every time I've been there I'm taken aback by how warm and wonderful the people are, truly. So cheers to you, good sir. Because even if your country is responsible for Mr. Weekender Singing Band, you also gave us Rush and The Tea Party. So it's not all bad. 🍻

Bless your heart.

I’d love if we could get immersive opera or symphonies or musicals. I’m not interested in pop artists. I spent more on my violin bow than avp.
that's even more niche and never gonna happen than me wishing they were making ones for obscure Swedish progressive metal bands lol
