Powered up my 8500, and now I am depressed that I have yet to buy any memory for this box!

I guess I will listen to Internet streaming audio with it, like I always do :( .

More memory = more useful as a classic application box, and to "play" with Xpostfacto.

i'm currently logged onto my performa 6400 and recompiling the kernel.

Posting this from my iMac G3 233 MHz Bondi Blue.

My regular desktop died, and my laptop is really too old to do much, so I dragged the ol' iMac out of the closet. a Bit slow, but I can deal with it for a week or so.

Is there a site like dpaanlka's System 7 Today for OS 9? I just picked up a PowerMac AGP Graphics from my uncle and I've never used OS 9 before.

Don't bother... upgrade to some version of Mac OS X (preferably Tiger) if you can.

Not that I have found, however there is still allot of information on the web about this operating system as it is much more modern.

Below are some sites that have some free software links, or just plain good information.

Personally, I find Playing with classic on faster modern hardware is kinda fun ;) .

Just got a Mac IIsi for $10 from a local guy on craigslist. This is officially my first computer from the Mac II series, and I am super excited (for some strange reason) to be able to play with it.

As soon as I can get it on the Net I will post it here!

Anyone want a Monochrome monitor (with factory box!) for free + shipping ?

have fun getting that thing on the internet! although personally i'd just use an emulator.

I am fine, and the deed is done!

It is the same era as my LC (no II or III), has a faster processor, more expandable, and has a larger drive. The LC has been on these forums too ;) .

Tried to post on MR with my Performa 5260 using IE 4.5. Failed miserably. Froze once and all the pages where rendered in the totally opposite way. That computer sucks big time.

Yes, it sure does. You can get IE 5 for that though, but for the reasons outlined in that link, you probably shouldn't bother.

They are not that great for using on the web. They tend to be slow, and with some browsers, they can be highly unstable.

I have been on the web with my 6230, and have even posted on the classic check in thread, however it does take a while to do so!

http://main.system7today.com/ is hosted entirely on a Power Mac 8100 running 7.6.1 and Comcast cable internet service. People sometimes ask if it's reliable...

View attachment 58043

All of that downtime, of course, is from Comcast dropping out. :D

It's been getting about 5,000 page requests a week for the past few months. That doesn't include images, though. Pretty impressive for 7.6.1!

The forums are hosted on an entirely different server however.

HA ha, clicked on the link and got...

400 Bad Syntax

After a week of playing Unreal Tournament trying to get it to crash (which it never did), I decided to play a more enjoyable game... Hellcats.

A few days ago I realized that most people wouldn't have any of the documentation for the game (such as mission objectives), so I've taken to recording my mission experiences for each of the seven Hellcats Over the Pacific and eight Leyte Gulf missions (including mission maps with target details).

I've been switching back and forth between playing on my PowerBook 3400c (800x600 resolution at 12.1") and my Quadra 950 (1152x864 resolution at 21"). I figure I've averaged about 1 hour of flight time a day for the last 15 years, which is a fair amount of experience at the game.

What is great about it is that it isn't all that hardware intensive... it needs about 2 MB of memory (more for larger displays) and a 68020 or better processor. Should run on System 6 or later. From 1991 to 1996 I played it regularly on an SE/30.

While I do enjoy it's descendant, Warbirds (which was based on donated Hellcats code), I still have a great fondness for the original game. :D

I look at my Mac Classic again today, still no Torx drivers to get inside.

Just out of curiosity, what's the oldest Mac/OS combination able to browse the web?

New user

Hi, im new in this forum, today I booted up my macintosh classic to play pacman! but have a little problem first, when it booted up it had a chess board on it, but solved the problem by waiting 30 min and then turning it on again. ;)

That sounds like fun! I need to start actively looking for classic games I like, and start using my older systems for some more entertainment purposes.

At this point, I tend to write articles for my site primarily on my classic computers, then network copy them over to a system that can handle the PHP / CSS / Java based loader to upload stories and pictures.

I would like to keep these systems on after the upload, and play some classic games on them!

Speaking of which, I just got done playing Life and Death doctors on my SE today. I still don't understand what I need to do in surgery in that game, but it is actually an interesting game!
